Well here's some of my specualtions of possible artists that might be parodied. One major thing to keep into consideration is that I've found that Weird Al tends to parody artists/songs that were big in the last two or three years. (So in other wards stuff between 2000 and 2002, with the slight possibility of 2003):

Nickelback, Creed, Theory of a Dead Man and any of those other Pearl Jam-ish Grunge bands with singer that some times sound lie Cher

My top pick for who Weird Al will proabably parody, be it a song parody a style parody or a poka. Weird Al's defienlty got the hair anyways.

Blink 182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, and other punk pop bands

Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, linknin Park, and other groups in the rap-rock category

This is slightly less likely since he did direct the music video for Ben Folds' Rockin the Suburbs, a song which spoof the genre, but it is still possible.

Hives, Vines, White Stripes, Strokes, and other garage rock bands

It was the big thing last year, so it's a definite possibility.

Christina Augulera

Mayeb Dirrty or Beautiful. I don't think Weird Al will parody Britney mainly because she really hasn't had anythign worth parodying that hasn't already been done to death.

Justin Timberlake

Nelly

The only other rapper besides Eminem that I could see parodying with the possible excpetion of Ja Rule. However I think Nelly has a higher chance of being parodied than either of them.

Avril Lavigne

She's been one fo the big artists in the past year, although she has been parodied several times already by other artists.

Led Zeppelin

Okay this is one of those long shots, but I don't think Weird Al has ever parodied them before, and you can never get tired of Led Zeppelin.

Ozzy Osbourne

Another long shot. But since Ozzy has had a hit tv show Weird Al but decide to do a song about him.

Pink

Get This Party Started just sounds like perfect polka potential.

Moby

This is a real slim chance, but it would definelty be a surprise to see Weird Al tackle a Moby Tune. Or even do a techno style song

Also there is teh possibilites of Weird Al maybe doing a bluegrass tune since Banjos were listed under instruments. Dave Matthews does sound like a possibilty, although it's more liekly he would do a song in the style of Dave Matthews than a regular parody. As for the possible surprise he could always do somethign really insane like cover a Bob Rivers song since there are so many of his songs that have been creditted to Weird Al, or maybe for the first time ever one of his singles will be a polka.

Marko,

Bermuda has stated at least twice on these forums that there is not going to be a bluegrass song on the album. Sorry 'bout that.

Nickelback is definitely a possiblity. I'm sure the ladies would love to see Al ontage wth a white shirt (buttoned only halfway) and a cowboy hat on.

I don't see Al doing anything with "Dirty" It sounds like all she does is scream at the top of her lungs into the microphone (ala the beastie boys...)

LEd Zepplin would be killer..Especialy if it was about Ozzy...

Justin Timberlake
Shoot me. Just shoot me now.... Please, Al. Don't do it!
Nelly
I hope Al doesn't do that stupid bandage or whatever it is on the cheek. It's sooooo the kind of thing he might do. Of course, if he did it ala Billy Joel it could be funny.

Pink

Actually I think it has some good parody potential. And Pink sings low enough it could be do-able.

One of the reaons I was thinking maybe Justin is that I could see Weird Al spoofing his style of making beat noises with his mouth.

I think that sounds something like an ALTV News announcement..." Justin Timberlake's new album will be postponed due to the fact he still thinks that Mchael Jackson, barbershop quartets and pop bands are still in style. His manager reports that his album, "More of Justin making ridiculous noises and screaming really high", will still be released this summer."

I can see that, although Al probably wouldn't do anything about The Glove...

I love that name. The Glove. He he.

That was uncalled for. I like the Beastie Boys! Theyre like the only good hiphop band out there. theyre totally unlike any other hiphop artists.

They are pathetic now, but back in their heyday they were really good. I do know all the words to "Paul Revere" and "Girls" but "In a World Gone Mad" just is too dumb for me. I want the old BB back...

Plus Al polkaed them!

So sorry...

I admit that that song was bad. But ur right Al did polka them AND he style parodied them too in Twister. And they also interviewed Al for Grand Royal magazine.
So sorry...
Apolgy excepted.

I'm just wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes. I gotta share with you guys here what I saw on AMW-A.

In a similar "What gonna be parodied on Poodle Hat" thread on AMW-A entitled "FOR REAL- what's he gonna parody?", several artist names [including Eminem, of course] were being thrown out as perhaps being ripe for parody material. One member mentioned Jennifer Lopez as a possibility, and another doubted she'd give permission since she seemed rather full of herself. Another member said, "J-Lo writes her own material? Remember, Al seeks out permission from the song writer." And the other member said, "You're right. I would be very surprised if J-Lo wrote her own material. There were rumors a while ago that she didn't even sing her own songs."

To which, our own Mr. Schwartz responds:

"That's not even her own butt."

 :P

Man, how I love those guys ... Al, Jon, Jim, Steve, and [even] Ruben must sit around and crack each other up for hours, just like my buddies and me used to do in college. Maybe that's why I love 'em. They've gotten to do that for years ... AND GET PAID FOR IT!!
