Re: Behind The Music
Actually since it appears they filmed the Al/Suzanne walking thing in HI, the 'stache was probably just the one he grows during extended off time. I think the HIMYM one was fake. I think that was filmed on an off day from the last tour.
Is my dude a dweeb?

Re: Behind The Music
Yeah this remastered thing is silly. They cut an hour show to 40 minutes, then added another 20 minutes of stuff highlighting stuff like trailers made by other people and glossing over things like his making appearances seemingly everywhere in the last few years. They should just do the original hour then add a new half hour on the end. This messes up what was formally a great show

I'm failing to see how the bit about Coolio is or has an editing issue.Killingsworth wrote:There were some minor issues with the editing that you guys bought up (like Coolio)

I couldn't watch it because I don't have that channel, so I can't wait for someone to put it up online.

Re: Behind The Music
I liked how Al mentioned that he and Suzanne were basically just starting to get to know each other around the time the first BTM special aired and how he told her she could watch it to learn more about his life. I guess that puts their first phone date somewhere around July 4th,1999. I bet there were fireworks that night (both literally and figuratively, hehe).

Re: Behind The Music
I thought the new section was actually relatively well edited. They definitely could have done without the segments on Weasel Stomping Day and Weird. The former could've been replaced with Trapped In The Drive Thru maybe, if they wanted to talk about another SOL song.
The major editing problems I noticed were in the part of the story between Eat It and the new section at the end. It was ridiculous how fast they were going through every single album. Did they have to discuss Alapalooza at all, for example? Maybe it could have just been condensed to simply say after Like A Surgeon there was a long period where Al thought he had hit a valley and reached his maximum success, then after the big hits of Smells Like Nirvana and Amish Paradise, Al was back to stay. They did not clarify with the Coolio scenario at all that Al was under the impression that he had permission, made it look like Al did decide to simply do it anyway. All the mistakes with Al's Grammy wins were simply embarrassing but at least they were mistakes in Al's favor. Another big flaw with the editing was the constant cutting in of old clips that slightly tangentially related to whatever they were talking about. The guys from the Fat video intro were used about seven or eight times throughout the hour.
Otherwise there were some cool shots and photos that were nice to see that I didn't remember from the first one, so it was a nice special. I agree with Mike though, it would have been WAY better if they just tacked on an extra half hour rather than awkwardly recutting an existing piece.
