Behind The Music

Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

Behind The Music

Post by WLG2 »

Hello,

Does anyone know a place where I could view / download Weird Al's Behind the Music? I've recently turned my girlfriend into quite the Al fan and I thought this would be a good "informational" documentary to show her, although it only spans up through the 90s. I'm hoping someone can help.

Thanks

If you wanted a bit more of a recent documentary, you'd probably have better luck with the A&E Biography which came out a couple years ago. I'm not sure if his VHI special is on YouTube, but I know for certain that his Biography special is. You can just search for "Weird Al Biography" and you should have no problem finding it.

Here is the link to part 1 of that special regardless:

Wow...thanks for this link, quantumerror! I've never did see this because at the time it aired I didn't get the A&E Biography channel. I know what I'll be watching tonight.

I simply just clicked on the links at the side of the video, since each following video was listed to the right, but yeah, that works as well....

No, no, as JCM said, way too taxing.

Anyway, about the Behind The Music, who all prefers it to the Biography episode? I do very much so, mainly for the darker tone and it being much more chronological.

I haven't seen the Behind The Music episode since back the day when Driven originally premiered, but from what I can remember of the episode, it was still a fun watch and had most of the usual informative stuff that all these documentaries had. But I preferred the Biography episode just because it went a bit more personal than it usually did, I liked how it actually spent a bit more time on him meeting Suzanne than simply saying "Al got married, get used to it.." I especially loved actually having her interviewed in it as well.
But overall, even if I wasn't comparing how outdated the other was, I'd still say the Biography episode for being as in depth as it took pride in doing.

I like them both overall, but prefer the A&E Biography.

Although, I would love to re-watch the VH1 Special, just cause I haven't seen it in about 5-6 years.

They're both good. Although Behind the Music did their usual "we need to try to find something HORRIBLE that happened in the artist's life and make a big drama out of it" thing with Al, which made it a bit awkward. Since Al's never been addicted to cocaine or gotten a buttload of DUI's, Behind the Music had to take UHF's failure and make it into a huge dramatic issue and then made a big deal out of Al not being married yet. And they still aired it that way even after he got married.

Nonetheless, it had a vast amount of information in it and they did a great job explaining how Al got to where he is now. I first saw the special when I was about 9 years old and because of it I think I knew more about Weird Al than any of the kids at school. I recorded it onto a VHS tape and watched it all the time, too.

I saw the A&E biography, but don't remember it as well... I'm gonna watch it right now...

I wonder if VH1 Classic might do one of those "Behind The Music: Remastered" for Al once the album comes out
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?
