Keep JetBlue in mind. They fly into Long Beach, which in an easy hop to Costa Mesa. It's a very easy airport to navigate. That airline is usually very reasonable with rates and it is my personal favorite for service and comfort [and not just because I only have to drive about a mile and a half to get to the airport to get to it].Ambra @ October 12, 2008 12:38 pm wrote: Yeah, I'm sure the price is going to change but I just wanted to get a rough estimate of what I'd have to spend. I'm probably not going to be able to get my ticket until I get my tax refund and/or my profit-sharing bonus. As far as leaving from DC or Charlotte, whatever money I'd save on the flight I'd end up spending on gas and parking. I'm not sure how far Charlotte is but DC is four hours away, not to mention the hassle of dealing with the traffic in that area. Roanoke Regional Airport is only 45 minutes away and the parking fees are pretty reasonable.
They fly in and out of a lot of areas to Long beach and are expanding often; they just added nonstop service to and from Portland OR. I think the closest for Virginia is Dulles but if you can take Amtrak to the northern VA area you could get a pretty inexpensive round trip [at this time, in the $250 range or perhaps less if they are having a promotion, which they often do].
You might also check out Southwest, especially those folks in areas not serviced by JetBlue, although the chances are you will have to change planes at some point to get to LAX, Long Beach or Orange County airports. Those flights are reasonable and reliable.
