He who's tired of Weird Al is tired of life.

I'm sure this has been said before, but I must say it, because it crossed my mind whilst daydreaming recently.

One of the best things about Al is that his music is perennially entertaining. Even the songs from 20+ years ago can still illicit a chuckle out of someone newly introduced to Al's music, or even a seasoned, obsessive Al fan.
That kind of thing just shows the vast level of talent he has for what he's chosen to do in life.
He's just that amazing. :peace:

Another reason why we love him, Helen. Well said.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

 exactly right! Im kind of a newbie Al fan (I discovered him last April) and when I listen to any of his stuff, either from way back in the eighties to SOL, I always laugh and feel happier cause of it. Al has a momentous amount of talent and, the best part, he's not up himself cause of it!

Damn, I wanna be a musician when I gwow up, I just hope I can achieve a TINY bit of what Al's done and is still doing. He's such an inspiration!

You the man, Al! :Y

There, soppy speech outta my system. Now im gonna eat pie. :P

I love weird al because everything he does and says is totally and utterly funny (not on a serious note though) and everything in his songs reminds me of everyday life (you may find it kind of strange) but lots of people I know get excited about new Hardware Stores (as an example) and constipation isn't a funny thing (only in the song "The Complicated Song") And people run into the ocasional dating you cousin kind of thing,

Am I right or am I right.
My best friend is dating my brother, and I like to frighten them by sitting in a stairwell with a tripod...hee hee hee

So, okay, this link doesn't specifically mention Al, but it's interesting nevertheless, and I think it explains why Al will be able to make a living in music for as long as he wants to. Discuss.

Wow, what a cool article. I've never thought about the music industry like that before.
Well, we all know Al has droves of fans, so I'm thinkin' he's here to stay! :D

that was cool! I was one of the "I like Al" fans for a long time -- not a True Fan until last year -- I'm sure he has more than 1000 True Fans but the more he reaches out to fans (all fans) and creates such wonderful music and humour he's only going to have more... and more... and more...
I'm not comfortable in my comfort zone - it's poorly named.

Not to mention that he sometimes reaches out to fans with, like, his actual arms. The article said,
A more important caution: Not every artist is cut out, or willing, to be a nurturer of fans. Many musicians just want to play music, or photographers just want to shoot, or painters paint, and they temperamentally don't want to deal with fans, especially True Fans.

And that's SO not Al. Besides having several boatloads of talent (let's see, there's the musical boatload and the comedic boatload... maybe Al has a catamaran of talent), he also has exactly the kind of friendly, attentive temperament that cares about people and doesn't mind hanging with the fans at all. When he's on tour, it sometimes seems like he spends nearly as much time in meet & greets as he does performing. I'm sure a lot of his motivation at the M&G's is simply basic kindness, wanting people to have a good experience meeting him, and gratitude because he knows fans allow him to make a living. But he really does seem to enjoy meeting up with familiar faces-- the True Fans-- in those lines. And there are many more than a thousand of us.
