QUOTE QUOTE Does anyone know how this is going? Have they even considered releasing the shows on DVD?
I don't think anyone's going to know how it's going until there's either a release announcement...or someone gets an e-mail that says, "STOP WRITING TO US ABOUT THIS BLASTED SHOW!"
QUOTE If not, I think it might be worthwhile to send write some hortatory letters to all the big video distributers to try to convince them to release the show. Maybe we could even send some to Dick Clark Productions as well. What do you think?
Writing to Dick Clark Productions, eh? Hmm...I wonder where one would be able to find an address for that...
I would actually recommend writing just to Dick Clark and not worry about writing to individual video labels. Dick Clark owns the show, and they would be the one deciding to release it, and should that happen I'm sure they'd either have a video company in mind or discuss it with Al or Jay.
Yes, I know. I just wanted an excuse to use the word "hortatory." I heard it somewhere (I don't remember where!) and I wanted to use it! LOL!

Look! I found another place to vote for the Weird Al show! I dont know how much impact it'll have on actually getting it released, but at least it'll give more evidence that the show deserves a DVD release. Go here and vote now!
You will have to sign up to vote, but it's free. This page wont say anything about voting untill you have signed up, and are logged in. And you can only vote once, sorry to say.

Good call on finding the poll. I'm not too familiar with this specific web site, but hey, whatever helps get the word out.

I wanted to bump this because I think early 2005 is the perfect time for a TWAS release.
Just about every show is being released on DVD these days: Titles ranging from Seinfeld to Survivor...even ABC Afterschool Specials!
Think about it: we probably won't get another ALbum until 2006. And since Al won't be touring, there needs to be some big release this year.
Let's be reasonable...we don't need a Criterion version of TWAS...but a cult company like Shout! Factory (the Rhino-equivalent of DVDs) would be the perfect fit. They released an acclaimed set of Freaks and Geeks earlier this year, and like TWAS, that was another short-lived cult classic.
So...out of curiosity, what would everyone like to see on a TWAS DVD?3 discs (in digipack or slimcases)All 13 uncut, remastered episodes with all original music intactCommentary by Al on every episodeCommercials/"We'll be right back!", etc. sectionFeaturette: Behind The Scenes at TWASFeaturette: How TWAS Came to BeFeaturette: The Creation of FatmanInterviews with Al, Jay Levey, stars and guest stars from the seriesExtensive booklet with notes on each episode, photos, etc.
