I agree with that post entirely. He should trust Jim and Steve to do their parts.minnick27 @ Nov 4 2006, 04:55 PM wrote: I think what made the performance confusing was the fact that they had Al's voice, even when he wasnt singing. I know he is a perfectionist and needs to sing it himself to get the right sound, but I think Jim and Jay could have done it alone and it would have sound fine. But Im sure people who arent familiar with Al are gonna think that it was total lipsync.
That would be the thread in which we found out about the 5.1 surround sound features.Bruce the Duck @ Nov 5 2006, 07:22 AM wrote: Check out the comments on that link. There's one by that @$$, Ron Wheeler. Some of you may remember him from the spoiler days. I don't remember what thread it was in, but he had some website in which he attacked Al's (then) upcoming album.
I just want you to know, despite what people like Ron Wheeler might say, people on this forum don't jump down the throats of anyone who makes a bad comment about Al. Most of the the time our comments are merely defensive and fact-correcting. Ron Wheeler had the nerve to say that Al didn't deserve a 5.1 album, and when we argued he took on an "I am holier than thou because I don't like Weird Al" attitude....He personally attacked people who defended Al, and called him a hackTravis the Geek @ Nov 5 2006, 12:56 PM wrote: Hey, the author here. First I wanted to thank everyone for the comments. I was actually kind of shocked that anyone was actually listening to my pathetic ramblings. (But, seriously people, dont you have anything better to do then listen to me? You know, like watching paint dry.) Second, I guess I can concede that the performance wasnt entirely lip-synced, but you have to admit that it wasnt completely clear. I guess it was summed up better earlier in this thread that Jim and Steve should have been allowed to do background vocals instead of using pre-recording.
/sigh/ Same reason I cant listen to KT Tunstall live. They try to replicate a sound that was made in a studio and it just doesnt work.
Oh well. Lets just compromise and blame it on Leno, who is like a black hole of humor.
Twice, actually. Once for Running With Scissors and then again for Poodle Hat. I had a chance to see him for Bad Hair Day, as well, but I missed it. (My friend had a couple of tickets but he brought someone else. /shakes fist/)Zelda27 @ Nov 5 2006, 03:14 AM wrote: Hey Travis - welcome to WOWAY! Have you ever seen Al live in concert? He's awesome!!![]()

Not true. If you have your facts straight, you can say he lip-synched. But the fact of the matter is that he didn't do it.
If you don't like the performance, fine. That's an opinion. But not all of us share that opinion. And if you have a right to express an opinion so do we.
My opinion is that I loved the performance. It was perhaps a little stiff, but you know what? That might have been part of the "White & Nerdy" schtick. Al may have been a bit nervous, but I think he was just playing up the nerdiness. Steve and Jim certainly were. Again, I enjoyed the performance, though it obviously wasn't as polished as it will be. And I would imagine in concert it will be more than just Al singing the song. His shows, with his equipment, are a multi-media extravaganza.
I agree I think Ashlee Simpson DOES look like a 40+ year old man with an accordion
