It's not that hard but because of the abuse I get, I prefer to tell people I'm Lilac or Antimony.

I think you missed my point..I didn't mean he remembers EVERYONE'S name, but he did seem to remember quite a few at the SOL signing...

So, what exactly are you saying about those of us, like myself, who have written letters?? I really wanted to do it, so I did. Superficial? I don't think so. At least, not to me.

I'm sorry Patti, I really tried to make it clear with what I was saying, I meant it was superficial to just jot off a random "OH AL you're the best...etc etc etc" letter as I almost did a couple of years ago...I said "unless you have a purpose", and you did..I knew that would be taken the wrong way, I should've edited it more carefully. You had intention when you wrote your letter, but you've also had the privelage of meeting Al and having a "relationship" (of sorts, I hope you know what I mean here), and I MEANT this was indefinetely more valuable than simply jotting off a letter just to say that "Oh, I wrote Al a fan letter!"...I'm really sorry my comments came across that way..

Thanks for clearing that up. It makes more sense to me now. I guess I left a pretty good impression on him, since he remembered who I was almost two years after meeting him at AlCon III. I didn't know what to expect when I wrote my letter *about two years before I finally did meet him*, I just wanted him to know how much I appreciated him and his music.

It's ok, Cat. I have trouble expressing myself in print sometimes, too.

I sent him the booklet of WOWAY's messages of support after his parents passed away. I didn't get a response, but it wasn't really a fan letter in the way that most others are. I do wish I had some confirmation that he received it though.

I do know of another instance of getting mail. Though, I didn't myself. The STUPID club had sent a nice package for Al, Suzanne and Nina with baby clothes and other things. Three years later, one of the members got a thank you card for the entire club.

See, it's a glacier, but eventually something can come.

Four years ago I sent Al a letter inviting him to come over for dinner. I still haven't heard back from him.

I sent Al a letter WAY back in the day, probably 7 or 8 years ago. I have no idea what I said in the letter, but considering I was about 11 or 12 and not as big of an Al fan, it was probably inane rambling. I forgot to send a SASE, so that's probably why I never got a reply. I also sent him a condolence letter when his parents passed away, but I obviously wasn't expecting a response for that one.
