You can do that without making a (was)?

Well, I just corrected the spelling. But if you want your misspelling immortalized for posterity, sure I could add (was: Parodys.) :P

Ah, thank you for changing the topic title a bit for correct spelling. I know you made OE happy. :)

For somebody as talented as Al, I think it is hard to come up with parodies that are less entertaining than the originals. The only one I feel fits into this category is "Girls Just Want to Have Lunch", and he was practically forced to write that one.

I've never thought that was one of his better works myself. What do you mean when you say he was practically forced to write it? I'd never heard that before. :-)

I sometimes sing Al lyrics while the original song is playing on the radio. That tends to annoy people, tho.

Scotti Bros strongly insisted that Al do a parody of Cyndi Lauper for DTBS. Al wasn't totally for the idea but he had little choice. I think Al also believes it's not one of his better works either.

Another note- Mom thoroughly fell over laughing after hearing "Hot in Herre" for the first time...she's not much of a rap fan...hearing the Al version first is sometimes the way to go for variety's sake...TY for correcting 'Parodys" it was driving ME NUTS!!..ANYWAY...what Civoknay was referring to, is that Al was, well, I'll let him put it in better words!

From "Ask Al": (BTW-UPDATE ON THE HOMEPAGE!!!!   I have been waiting FOREVER!)

Tim Montgomery of Decatur/Il asks: Why wasn't "Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch" on the Food Album?

There is a "royalty ceiling" on parodies for each album (meaning there are only so many parodies I can put on each album before it starts eating into my own profits), and I needed to eliminate a song from the list, so I chose "Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch." That song has never been one of my favorites, mostly because I was basically forced to do it. For some reason, my record label was dead-set against releasing the "Dare To Be Stupid" album unless I had a Cyndi Lauper parody on it. I grudgingly obliged them - and that was pretty much the last time they told me what to put on an album.

Favorite "Ask Al" response of mine:

Paul Triggiani of Springfield, Pa asks: Who is that woman laughing well into the end of "The Check's In The Mail?" She has been bugging me since I was eight.

That woman is… uh… me.

have fun...hope that clears it up, I searched through half the archives (But, oh boy, was it FUN!) ]

That's one of my favorite "Ask Al" responses, too. It cracks me up!

Thanks for looking up the GTWHL quote. I had somehow missed that one. So glad to know Al's not too keen on it, either!
