Al On "purple Rain" Dvd...really!

Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

Certainly sounds like a DVD to add to my collection ... thanks for the information, CD. :)

I've seen the movie, and I must say I think the When Doves Cry video had better editing.
This means something. This is important.

It doesn't mention Al, but here's a review of the set.

I watched the interview today. Wow, live MTV programs in 1984 really sucked. How the network ever managed to stay in business I don't know. Live TV has really evolved from then.....

Anyway, if you put aside the fact that no one knew how to talk into a microphone and the VJ didn't prepare for any of the interviews, Al's interview was pretty.... well.... boring, actually.

Al was sitting at a table sharing a drink with the VJ and John Cougar Mellencamp Cougar Mellencamp Mellencamp Cougar Mellencamp or whatever he was known as at the time . The VJ admits he can't handle interviewing two people at once so he interviews John for a while then he asks Al (The onscreen name said "Weird Al" Yankovich but the VJ pronounced it correctly) if he enjoyed the movie and is planning on taking on Prince anytime soon. Al says he realized Prince was a good actor, but who knew he could sing (Ok, that was kind of funny) and that he'd get right on the Prince thing as soon as the party was over. Then he interviewed John for a while more, then back to Al to see if he would be taking over the airways at MTV anytime soon, and he said he was working on it. That was it. I couldn't force myself to watch the rest of the special but it looked like Pee Wee Herman and Eddie Murphy were at the party as well.
