According to the "Washington Post," there is footage on the new "Purple Rain 20th Anniversary" DVD of the film's red carpet premiere, including none other than Al being interviewed by MTV.

For those who haven't seen the movie, it's worth checking out at least once. The story and acting are pretty cheesy, but the music is actually very well done.
