Since it's almost Al's birthday, I will be presenting him with a group WOWAY birthday card.
Not sure what yet, but probably something with accordions or hamsters on it. If anyone wants to "sign" it, please PM me with your message or post in this topic. I will hand-write your message and/or name to the card and present it to Al at the signing. Since I'll be tour chasing the weekend before and internet access may be spotty at best, please get me your requests by 10/18. After that, I'll try my best to get any birthday messages, but can't promise.
Dave

Hm...
"Have a happy 27th anniversary of your 26th birthday!" I think it would be better if I used that line a year from now.

I'm very tempted to make the journey from RI for this. It's about 3 hours, but meeting Weird Al is a total bucket list thing for me.
Anyways, if anyone's ever gone to an Al signing in the past, is there a decent amount of face time? Does he pose for pictures?
Most book signings I've been to were good experiences, though I try to avoid the ones where they mechanically shuffle you through like cattle. I went to a signing with Shaq once where it was exactly like that, though I obviously expect higher of Al.

At the Barnes & Noble one, they did allow pictures. I don't know what you define a "decent amount" of face time as, but in my experience Al tends to resist cattle-shuffling efforts on the part of event minders. You may not have a lot of time with Al, but you will have his full attention.

I had a good two minutes with Al for the WIGU signing. He signed 4 books for me, posed for a picture and did a hello video to my wife. You will notice that the people that Al knows he will spend extra time with. Ive seen security guards mumble about Dave before
