Just curious- what's the best way to find out if Al is doing one or not? I know some venues are more likely to have one than others, but is there a set rule on when one will happen, or is it just hope for the best?

No set rule, but your best chances are at a theatre venue. The decision usually isn't even made until after the show from what I can tell. Depends on Al's mood and if he has time -- many elements factor in.

I just noticed- I think I posted this in the wrong forum. I wanted it to go in the Touring/Live Appearances one. Could one of the mods please move it, if possible? Thanks bunches. *blames her pre-show AIH*

I think we might get one Tuesday. RHL is a relatively small venue, and Al's next show after that is over two weeks away! I even asked him on his MS page, to kind of put the idea in his head. *crosses fingers*

Hmm...the Kettering show isn't at a theater per say. It's at a pavilion, but I'm assuming you're saying your chances are generally better if the show's not a festival or fair. Am I correct?
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

I don't know Al's track record at "pavillions" per se. I do know that his track record at theatres is excellent.

Are the tour buses parked in a public place? That seems to be a significant deciding factor. At fairs, casinos and amusement parks, the buses are often parked in some secure fenced off area.

I've never been to this venue, so I can't say for sure. I would think they're probably in a public place, though.

When I saw him on the PH tour, they were. I even accidentally drove right through the street where it was parked, going right past it (hey, I was looking for somewhere to park, OK). But, security usually keeps an eye on it. I have a good idea where it'll be parked for the RHL show.

Its just wait and see. I know at the Keswick, the buses are right outside the door where they let the audience out so it was very easy to hang out and wait for Al. And the size of the crowd can be a determining factor. Although last time there was proably 200 people and Al still sat down and signed autographs. But dont expect a meet and greet just because the bus is in an accessible area. I know at the Mann last tour the buses were behind a fence, but you could stand right there and Skip came out and told us Al was leaving as soon as he was done with the backstage pass people because he was going to see Suzanne and Nina. And if there is no show the next day he may be more wiling to hang out. Although I waited over two hours for him one night and he still came out and signed a bunch of autographs and he had to be in Florida the next night, so you never know.

I'm not planning on one, so I don't get my hopes up. That doesn't mean I'm not hanging around just to see what happens.
