At All Things Yankovic, there are a few pages that mention that buying a product at a flea market, yard sale, or ebay (or used copies in general) wouldn't help improve the chances of making Al's albums go gold (or platinum, or double platinum, or tripple... oh, okay I'll shut up).

However, there are several flea markets, a few goodwill stores, and a used album store in my town, and I have never seen any Al products of any kind at any of these places (except for a copy of the original video release of UHF). So I am wondering, have any of you ever found Al items at flea markets or similar places?

No, I don't go to flea markets with intentions of buying Al's albums. I have all of his major albums, except for Babalu Music, Peter and the Wolf, and Permaneant Record, and all albums I own were bought at retail stores. I do look through the various record bins just to see LP copies of his albums in person (I don't think I have a record player anymore). However, it seems like these flea markets have nearly everything that's been released, except for the stuff that I'm really looking for (and Al stuff, not just what I don't have). It would be great if I could find used copies of The Authorized Al and The Complete Al (I'm sure that some casual fans would have them sold at flea markets instead of knowing that they would make a lot more on ebay). It would also be greater if those would get rereleased. I can't think of any additional Al merchandise that I don't have that are on my high priorities list.

But it is strange that I don't see Al products, but see many products relating to many other people and things.

Well, I can honestly say I've never seen anything Al related at a flea market or yard sale, but then, I haven't been to either of those in years, which was back when I was just a casual Al fan. But I did just score a copy of The Compleat Al on ebay for $7.15.

If I did see something Al related at a yard sale/ flea market that I don't already have, and it was a good price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. Okay, so it doesn't make Al's sales go up, but I'll be honest, Al has a lot more money than me. If I can buy something for $1 rather than $20, I'm gonna do it. Only an idiot would say no to that.

Everytime I pass a 2nd hand/recycled music store I pop in & check for Al stuff - it is unlikely that I will find Peter & the Wolf or Babalu music in Australia though.

I am yet to find anything! I have looked for years. After I have looked I usually ask 'would you file Al under W or Y' if they are not rude ("No we file that under C for c_ _ p" - no joke, what a way to lose a customer) I get - "not much call for it" or " no his stuff is sooo old" etc.

I don't really need anymore, I have almost everything, but if it's Al & I see it...

If you ever go to Universal Studios Orlando, I believe you can still pick up a copy of "Babalu Music" at the "I Love Lucy" store. That's where I bought the video cassette. But it was a while ago so I don't know for sure if they still have it. There are also several cheap copies of the VHS on eBay.

But for some reason the CD is much more difficult to track down. I think your best bet at this point (especially since the CD is out of print) is to try to find a download.

BTW, I don't think you need to censor yourself on a word like "crap." ;)

I haven't seen any Al related stuff at a yard sale yet. I wish I have, especially for stuff I still don't have.

I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure my DTBS CD came from a Salvation Army. Considering how much time I've spent searching thrift stores, flea markets and yard sales that's really not much. I was never looking for Al stuff specifically, but if I had seen anything it definitely would've stuck in my mind. I've often thought about how strange it is that I never see anything considering just how many albums he has sold.

I don't think his stuff being so old would be a reason for the flea market to not have any Al stuff. I've seen several Sesame Street, Disney, and Looney Tunes products from the early 1970s at my local flea markets, and those were obviously released before Al began his career in the music buisness.

I already have all of Al's important albums, all of which are still in print (as far as I know). Most of the stuff I don't have and want are long out of print (many of which were out of print before I was even a fan). Since companies don't seem to be in any hurry to rerelease them, I don't think Al would be deprived of sales if people buy The Complete Al or The Authorised Al at flea markets. There are a lot of other rare stuff that I've been wanting that are long out of print that I haven't seen at any flea markets (mostly Muppet videos from the 1980s). I would probably be able to get what I want if I shopped on ebay, but I don't.

At the local Goodwill Store I found an Alapalooza cd cover. Just the cover! It's the only Al merchandise I have ever found in years of garage saling and junk store browsing. I do much better on ebay.

I've gotten my Al stuff from stores like, Wal-Mart, K-mart, Target, etc.

There's a used CD shop that I go to often that usually has about 2 - 4 of Al's records or CD's. (Which to me, means they're selling)

I found the Spy Hard CD single, the Headline News single & 3 Al records that are now in my collection at that used CD store.

I got "The Compleat Al" off of Amazon for.....i forgot....but having it is all that matters right?
