So yah-- I've gone to school all over the place. Maine, as well as Georgia.
For the past tours, I've gone to shows in Portland, Maine as well as Hampton Beach, NH---
but now that I'm a student in San Francisco, California--- it got me wondering. How does this work?
What are the most recommended venues? I know the OC Fair is a big event---
I'm new to the state-- what do you guys do?

Aron-- Only the second accordionist to ever sit in the trunk of Torsoboy's DeLorean. Al was the first.

My recommendation is to go to any show that's close (there was a nice one in Santa Rosa last tour), or else go for broke and come to OC. The thing about CA is that there are so many miles between venues, and Al tries so hard to make sure his family remembers who he is, that Al & TBITB generally just pile on the bus and skedaddle afterward. It's not a good state for public meet & greets, from my admittedly limited experience. In general, pick theater concerts over county-fair (except for OC) or amusement park concerts.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

OC FAIR!!!
It's 5 days of Al! It's the only venue he spends multiple days at! I love it there- great outdoor venue... and it's cheap ($7 for the fair admission).

Does he do a meet and greet there? I would still drive out (Get my mom to drive out) to see him in any concert, but I would just die if he did a meet and greet at the OC fair. My mom will definitely go for it since its not expensive at all.

Of the 6 OC Fair shows Al did in 2002, he only did one meet and greet -- that was after the Thursday show, but the series was more special because they were the only concerts he did that year. I think the weirdal.com FAQ says Al normally does NOT do meet and greets at fairs and amusement parks.
This means something. This is important.

Ya, I've never been to an OC Fair show where he did a meet and greet afterwards. There are just WAY too many patrons at the fair/park venues.

Ahhh thats interesting actually.
I may have to see if I can save up to go back to the East cost. Out of the shows I've been to, I've been sung to half the times--- and met him 75% of the time after the shows.
I have reaallllly good luck there.
I wouldn't mind meeting any West Cost Wowayers since I've run into a number of them on the East Coast.
