Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

This came up in a Google alert and I did a little more research. Sorry for the screen grab but it wouldn't let me copy and paste.

Then it goes on with a short bio. But what I found most interesting was the mention of commercials! We know Al has, and can, successfully direct music videos, but looks like he expanded. Since this deal went down in February, it's possible we have seen, or are seeing some of Al's commercials now too! My first question is there a way to find out who directed what commercial, or what commercials Al or this company directed? (*Everyone looks at Greg for answer* :F)

And I guess this also means we may be seeing Al behind the camera on some more music videos too, although they do say they're gonna target commercials with him.

Wow, thats gonna be pretty tough to keep up on keeping a total collection of all that Al does, since commercials arent in TV GUide (but then again if we can keep up with VH1, we are good). But thats pretty cool that he may be doing that. Maybe he can team up with his old advertising icon buddy Stan Freberg.

Maybe he's behind the Geico parody ads :D

Eh, probably not, but they seem right up his alley anyway

They did say major humorous campaigns, so it's possible. I just wish I knew what commercials this company is responsible for.

:whoot: Wow, that's really cool! I hope we see Al on more music videos. It's very interesting to think about Al directing commericals, too. Those would be some very funny commercials! I'm not sure how you would find out who directs a commercial. I hope that if Al hasn't already started directing commericals, that Bermuda will mention the commercials Al has directed on The Mothership. That way we could be on the lookout for them.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

I was trying to surf around that site today as well, but they claim they're still updating their Al pages, so hopefully they'll maintain some sort of online resume for Al.

But outside of that or a very helpful drummer/webmaster who could give us the heads-up when a new directing project is about to air, there doesn't seem to be any easy way to find out who directed what when it comes to commercials. There doesn't seem to be any sort of IMDb-esque web site for that, as a quick Yahoo search only turns up sites that act as a sort of streaming archive for commercials.

Sometimes the IMDb will list commercials under the "other works" section of a person's entry, but that is of course dependent on if a user actually submits that kind of information.

The only things I could think of that might be considered "commercials" are the "MTV Unplugged" promos from 1998, but I'm not sure if Al actually directed those or not.

I really doubt any of this means Al's really going to be immersing himself in commercial productions anytime soon. It seems to me that Al has merely switched representation for his directing work and this firm is just saying "Hey, he's available for lots of other things, too!"

Although I'm not entirely surprised considering the frequency of updates during the last couple years, I wonder why this wasn't mentioned on weirdal.com. I would think that if his commercials were in fact already shown, Bermuda would have let us know....at least I hope so...

Anyway, I wonder if Al himself will actually appear in any of the commercials, or will he just direct. Hmm..

That'd be awesome! If he did, he might do it closer to the release date of ALbum 12 or something. ;)
