Thursday, Sept. 16 7:37 pm (or there abouts)
While introducing contestant John, (I think - it wasn't the woman and I don't think it was reigning champ Ken), Alex Trebec stated the contestant had performed in a lip-sync contest...."What song did you do?" he asks...contestant replied, "ILOJ" by Weird Al Yankovic.

Trebec asked if he won... contestant says, "No".

I don't know who won... it was a heavy metal band, I think.....does it really matter? I was thrilled just to hear Al mentioned!

OK pacific coasters..... fill in the blanks!
Here comes the FUN, do-do-do-do!

I've noticed that whenever ILOJ is mentioned on Jeopardy -- whether it be in a contestant interview or as a clue or response -- whoever mentions it -- loses. :P

As for Ken Jennings he's got around 30 more wins before ILOJ applies to him.
This means something. This is important.

Wow, so does that mean that ILOJ is cursed? sort of like saying macbeth at a theatre?

hehe, yeah. It's "The Scottish Play", right? ;)

But, yeah, maybe it has to do with the fact that when Al came in second on R&R Jeopardy, they played ILOJ. That cursed the song so that anyone who goes on Jeopardy loses if they mention it. Maybe they should come up with something equivalent to "The Scottish Play"?

Macbeth!
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Wow, I just mentioned this in Generic Blather. ;)

It was the contestant named John and the heavy metal group that he lost the contest to was Black Sabbath.

But anyone playing against Ken Jennings right now is going to have a very hard time winning so I don't think mentioning "ILOJ" had anything to do with it.

Well, way to spoil our fun, Trixie! ;) This could be the stuff of legend, like being center square on Hollywood Squares being terribly unlucky. *A lot of folks who were died.* :( Besides, I'd like to hear the alternative for saying the title of the song.

:P

Sorry to ruin everyone's fun but I figured if anyone as been watching Ken on Jeopardy would know it's not going to be easy to beat him yet! :sorry:

Patti, Am I missing something can you explain what you mean about what you were saying for me? It totally went over my head tonight because I'm kinda of tired. :F

What aren't you clear on? Btw, both Parody_Freak and I were j/k. Note we both used the :P smiley.

GMTA = Great Minds Think Alike

Is it the Macbeth thing? Apparently, long ago, it was decided that it was bad luck to say "Macbeth" aloud during a performance of the play on stage. So, people would call it "The Scottish Play" instead. I was just suggesting we come up with another name for "I Lost on Jeopardy" that people could use when they were on the show.

I've got it! How about "The Game Show Song"?

Can't wait until I get used to getting up at 4:00 in the morning to get my son to Seminary because about this time at night I'm really tired! :z
