The "Taco Grande" thread got me thinking about this. It seems that on almost every album, there is one PARODY that is clearly inferior to the rest of the PARODIES on the album. Sometimes that is because Al had to rush to do a parody in order to finish the album and get it out there. Other times, it may have been because he just couldn't find a great parody concept for a song that he really wanted to (or was forced into) parody.

What do you think of this? Of course this is all up to personal preference. Some people here may prefer certain songs on some albums more than others, but to me at least there always seems to be one that is inferior.

Here are some examples (Please note - I like ALL of these songs, just not as much as the ones on the rest of the album. The only exception is Syndicated Inc. That one is a real stinker!):

In 3-D - "The Brady Bunch"
Dare to be Stupid - "Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch"
Polka Party! - "Toothless People"
Even Worse - I don't know if there's a clearly inferior parody here, maybe "Lasagna?"
UHF - Again, no clearly inferior song
Off the Deep End - "Taco Grande"
Alapalooza - "Livin' in the Fridge" - An excellent parody, but this one was definately last minute
Bad Hair Day - "Syndicated Inc." <_<
Running With Scissors - No clearly weak parody, although "Grapefruit Diet" is considerbly weaker than the other four parodies
Poodle Hat - No clearly inferior parody

Per Permanant Record, Livin in the Fridge is of course, admittedly a last minute parody...ironically it's the first or second best parody on Alapalooza.

Of course we all know the story of Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch....

IIRC, Mama Bear may have issues with your Bad Hair Day selection

I think a lot of people would use Isle Thing as the last minute on UHF, but as you said, it's all a matter of opinion. I like the song myself (But then again, I do like the Gilligan...)
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

I actually think "Isle Thing" is the best parody on UHF. UHF as an album has really strong originals and relatively weak parodies. Personally, MFN/BH is the weakest parody on that album.

These are the ones that were recorded LAST PARODY RECORDED FOR EACH ALBUM , thanks to The Mothership. This DOES NOT MEAN I hate these songs. Except for "Girls Just want to have lunch" :F
Self-titled: Ricky
In 3-D: King Of Suede
Dare to Be Stupid: Girls Just Want To Have Lunch
Polka Party: Toothless People
Even Worse: Lasagna
UHF Soundtrack: Isle Thing
Off The Deep End: Smells Like Nirvana
Alapalooza: Livin' In The Fridge
Bad Hair Day: Amish Paradise
Running With Scissors: The Saga Begins
Poodle Hat: A Complicated Song.

FIXED: Ricky is the last parody recorded for the WAY album.

I bet "Alimony" is the last-minute one for EW.

Personally, I doubt "Toothless People" was a last-minute parody. Really, by the time Al was recording the album, I think it was obvious that it was a dud. Al probably only recorded it since Mick Jagger gave him permission, and he didn't want to offend him.

"Buckingham Blues" isn't a parody.

As for TSB, Al probably waited to make sure the lyrics were accurate. I can't explain for ACS, but I doubt it was the last one written (maybe the last one given a title...)

"Happy Birthday" isn't a parody either...but you're right about "Ricky."

Yes. I think Al had asked several artists for permission, and Aerosmith was the first one he heard back from.

Anyway, "Livin In The Fridge" is one of the better songs on Alapalooza. "Bedrock Anthem" is the weakest parody there.

I agree with most of the rest of Jeremy's picks, except:

Off the Deep End - "Taco Grande

I like this song........ "The White Stuff" is the weakest parody on OTDE IMO.

Poodle Hat - No clearly inferior parody

I think "Trash Day" is the weakest parody, only because the other four are far superior.
