Okay, I couldn't come up with a title which would adequately explain what I'm talking about, so if you Mods think of a better topic title, please change it for me! Thanks!

Throught Al's parodies, he has often times made reference to another song by the artist being parodied. I have noticed quite a few of them and I wondered if there may be others that I haven't found. Here are the ones I've noticed:
Eat It - video : The end of the video features Al's eyes turning yellow, similar to the end of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video Eat It - album : "Nature Trail to Hell," the song which concludes In 3-D is an obvious "style parody" of Michael Jackson's "Thriller."Like A Surgeon - video : The end of the video features Al and two dancers in a scene that parodies Madonna's "Lucky Star" videoIsle Thing: The line "Funky Cold Medina" is the name of another hit song by Tone Loc (actually I think it was his ONLY other hit!Smells Like Nirvana -album: The hidden track "Bite Me" is a parody of the "hidden" track from Nirvana's Nevermind album, "Nameless, Endless."The Plumbing Song: The line "Girl You Know It's True" is a reference to another hit song by Milli Vanilli. It's All About The Pentiums -video: The video features parodies of a few different Puffy videos (can someone help here?) as well as Busta Rhymes' "Gimme Some More."
Any others?

Yeah, but I'm talking about when Al references a different song by the SAME ARTIST THAT HE'S PARODYING. In UHF, he's not really parodying anybody, but the video parodies a bunch of people, similar to how YDLMA parodies More Than Words. But those aren't what I'm talking about.

See examples above.

Anybody?

I don't get it. What other Huey Lewis and the News song does that reference?

BTD, you missed another Madonna reference in the "Like a Surgeon" video. He also parodies her "Burnin' Up" video with the poses, where he "strikes a pose" and they freeze the shot. Also, in "The Plumbing Song", Al also parodies "Blame It on the Rain", another Milli Vanilli song.

Patti

Who never really thought of "Nature Trail to Hell" as being an "obvious" style parody of "Thriller" And the album is "In 3-D" You're trying to confuse me, right?
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Yes, the album is "In 3-D." I wrote "Eat It" because the reason for the Thriller style parody is because of the "Beat It" parody. Actually, NTTH is not that similar to "Thriller," musically, but thematically, it's VERY similar. Plus it opens with spooky "Halloween" sounds just like "Thriller."

I didn't know about the "Burnin' Up" references. Hmm.

Yes, I didn't list "Blame It On the Rain" or "Under the Bridge" because they are directly parodied in the songs, while "Girl You Know It's True" is just an extra nod to Milli Vanilli thrown in as a subtle joke.

And No, you don't need my help getting confused, Patti! :P
