Kings Dominion Concert

Post by bayla »

Hello. This is my first posting. My family and I enjoyed our first Weird Al concert last night at Kings Dominion. I have been to many concerts, but NONE as entertaining and full of energy as this. It was a shortened concert, but that did not take away from the experience. WBUL is something that needs to be experienced by all Al fans!

My 14 year old son and his 2 friends (along with me) are still talking about the concert. We also had the good fortune to meet Al as he was going thru the park with a security detail to go on some rides. He even stopped and signed his autograph for me!!! What a nice guy! :onfire:

Wow. I don't know how I missed him. About what time was he going through?

This was the first time my wife had seen him and the last time I had the fortune of attending a concert was the Even Worse tour. His concerts were still full of energy and tons of fun.

For the trip up to PKD I made a compliation CD and was a little freaked out to discover that most of the songs I had collected were songs he performed.

Sorry it took so long to get back to reply. We saw him about 5PM as my husband and I were waiting for my son and his friends to complete yet another ride on the Avalanche. My husband saw Al first coming out the exit of Avalanche. He then went onto the Volcano thru the exit and waved to us as he was positioned in the front seat. We took a picture (retrieved my son from line so he could see Al) as Al was coming off Volcano. He then went to Flight of Fear and Anaconda. He looked like he was having as much fun as we were! By the time he came off of Anaconda a rather large group of people were gathering, so we backed off and don't know if he continued to go on more rides, or went back to the amphitheater area.

It was really a treat for us to see him. Our Lucky Day.

I'm so glad he didn't let life imitate art (last verse of "Complicated Song")! :nervous:

KD Concert

Post by DuckmanNate »

Well. I've been lingering around this site for a few months now, and, have been an Al-coholic for YEARS. I decided that I MUST join up and add my 2-cents worth. The Kings Dominion concert was my 3rd Al concert, and, first with my new wife and Step-son. As always, the concert was just totally amazing. We also ran into Al with his band of guards, and, he also had Ruben following him around to the rides. We were about to get in line for Volcano when he walked by. My Step-son was thrilled to get to see him.

I got to meet the whole band after the Nov. 14, 1999 show in DC (My first concert AND my b-day (Great B-day present)), and, I also got to see them exactly 3 years earlier, also July 13th, at Kings Dominion. (Still wondering about that coincidence in dates)

Anyway, the concert was shortened by about 7 songs, but, still awesome. I'm guessing it was so that people weren't leaving the concert when a HUGE storm went through the area about an hour later.

So. enough rambling. I'm not usually a writer, mostly just a reader! but, I'll be around :listen:
