6/29/13 Los Angeles, CA Children's Book World-11AM

Thinking that I may go to this signing instead of making the short trip to Cincinnati. Already planning on going out west early for Kimo's show in San Pedro on the 29th, so it would make sense to just go to this one.

There's the link to the event page. It doesn't say that it is a ticketed event, so I guess you just need to show up early for a spot. I think I'll contact the store, though, to confirm if that's the right process. Anyone LA guys been to a signing here before?

This was a really fun event. Got to the store around 10. Met cool guys in line that saved my spot while I purchased the book. The guys also worked at Disney, and one was a wrestling fan. So, we had a lot to chat about, plus our Al fandom, while waiting in line. Got through in around an hour. Al was awesome.

When I was next, Al said..."Hey Jeremy! Wow...your first autograph!"...I said, "Yeah, I'm so excited Al..." The people working at the store thought that was hilarious. Then, said that I was tourchaser that came to many shows. They thought that was really cool. Everyone working at the store was nice. We then chatted about Bonnaroo. I told him how proud that made me as a fan to see all of those people at the show, enthusiastically enjoying it. He told me what a thrill it was to perform on the stage, and how much of a rush he received from it. I then mentioned that I was also happy to see him at Comedy Bang Bang, and how much I enjoyed that show, as well as, that I probably wouldn't have gone if I didn't think that he would be there. He commented that the performance at that show was kind of a mess, and they probably should have rehearsed it. I told him I thought it was great, and fun to get to see all of them together. He then thanked me for coming, and I told him that I'd see him out at the shows.

Fun appearance, and I have to say that that store was pretty cool. They had to have had anything that you were looking for in kids books.

Vikki and I were almost at the very end of the line, I think there were only 5 or 6 people behind us, so we were darn close to being the end of the whole book tour, and Al was knackered (he came to Children's Book World straight from the airport). But he was still attentive and gracious, and I don't think those last 6 people got any less enjoyable a Weird Al encounter than the first lucky book-buyers in the first city. I think Al must have some Energizer Bunny in his lineage. This (fortunately for poor exhausted Al) was actually one of the shorter signings... I believe he got there around 11 and it was done by about 2:30. Anybody care to hazard a guess how many books Al signed in the last 7 days?

I hope he manages to start getting caught up on his sleep today. The siesta is your friend, Al.

Especially since he and the band start touring again tomorrow. Sounds like you guys had fun even with the long lines. My tolerance for crowds isn't what it used to be so I passed on this one. Looking forward to seeing everyone who will be there at Del Mar!

Cheers, Diva
