I signed up to say a belated thanks to Lori about the Thursday ticket, and thanks to Vikki for letting me know it was available! I also appreciate the Al fan from Santa Barbara who let a pal and me move into a nicer spot one night.
The five nights have become a jumble in my memory - all you folks having such a great time, friends like Midnight Star contributor Dave Z, Lynn D and her family, Steve & his wonderful tribe, getting to cheer loudly every night at the Big Shoes/ohoababa bit, and of course that great rock anthem, Close to You.
One of the best parts was the appearance of the stormtroopers and Jedi Obi-Shawn, who were still enthusiastic about it when I talked with some of them at the San Diego Comic Con a few days later. (Yoda and Saga Begins are sentimental favorites of mine - and the 501st folks made that part even better) My gratitude to whoever had the brilliant idea to invite them to be in the show!

Hey, Carlotta-
I think "Obi-Shawn" made the connection somehow himself. It was fun seeing him again at Comic-Con. Oh, and "Close to You" was one of my favorite moments at the OC fair. Good times!
Here's something funny--my baby brother e-mailed the other day to say he was living a 30 year old dream and is now Darth Vader with the 501st. He lives in Des Moines, and is hopeful about possibly being on stage with Al, but no news yet. I told him he'd always be "just a small fry" to me.

I never cleaned out my backpack from these shows. I knew there was confetti in there, but the other day it was raining, and my umbrella was in my bag. When I stepped out of my front door, I opened my umbrella and two pieces of confetti went flying across the street. It made me kind of happy.
I had such a great time, I'm STILL Sad that it's over. Oh well, I'm going to see Al tonight in NJ. Front Row Baby!!

I finally figured out what line was sung to me!
"I hope I'm not being forward, but do you mind if I chew on your butt?"
And I think I also got "You can tell me truthfully, am I a steamin hunk of love now or what?" since the first line doesn't seem long enough.
I was listening to the song, and through the process of elimination and the knowledge that there was a pause in lyrics right before and he went back on stage right after, I figured it out.

Kristine,
I was thinking about you at the show last night. That WAS the line he sang to you. I just remember what line he sang to me, and you got the next one, so I hadn't listened to the song until the show last night. And I thought about you when he sang that line.

OMG I feel so stupid. I think I may have deleted a pm that I shouldn't have.
I'm horrible with names, so of course I can't remember the guy's sn.
Who was looking to purchase a print from me??

Okay, I stayed up way too late finishing this.

But I wanted to do
something productive on my day off.

Great review, Dave, but you left out the part where I almost got a ride home from Ruben!

The picture of the streamers in the air is really cool.
I wonder what I was actually saying to Al in the picture with my hand up. Maybe I was telling him that I've had it up to HERE with the OC Fair employees.
