No public meet-and-greet
We waited for Al but the bus pulled away then we saw it as it pulled away from the front of the theatre. Evidently, they picked Al up out front rather than have him come out the side entrance. Oh well, there's always Columbus, OH. I did get to meet, talk to, and get my picture taken with Steve and Jim. They're really great guys! I also got them to sign my Alendar, which Steve had never seen. He asked me, "Where did you get the calendar?" I told him and he looked at all the pages, commenting on how nice it was. He also did something very nice for a girl standing in front of me. Evidently, she'd won some sort of parody-writing contest but didn't have a backstage pass. Steve personally took her and her mom backstage so she could meet Al!
Akrovak--You're very welcome for the ticket! Sorry I didn't get to meet you, your sister, and nephew in person but I'm glad they had fun.
I got into Richmond about 2:15 and ended up missing the turn-off for the parking garage. I drove down to another garage by VA Commonwealth University, about six or seven blocks away. I walked back to the theater and saw the garage right behind it so back six or seven blocks I went, got my car, and drove it to the closer garage. I called my mom to let her know where the garage was and she said she might not make it to Richmond because of a severe storm that made it impossible to drive. Luckily, she got there about an hour later.
I got to meet Gianna(I recognized the description of her shirt so I was able to spot her in line) and her mom, and it was nice seeing Jeremy again.
My mom and I were up in the balcony. She enjoyed the show although she said it's was more of a one-time fun thing to do for her. Oh well, at least she didn't hate it! She especially liked TSB and "Yoda" and I was surprised at how much she seemed to enjoy the rap and rock style songs like ISY and IAATP. She said she thought Al was very talented and funny. I think the concert was a little too loud for her; she leaned over during "Fun Zone" and asked if his concerts were always this loud. She was also a little peeved that the show didn't start until 7:45PM but I found out that there was miscommunication between the theater staff and Al; he was evidently told there was an opening act so they were late getting set up.
The show was GREAT! I finally got to see TSB with stromtroopers, Darth Vader, etc. although I still haven't seen a live version of WDTAHTM yet; I seem to get the shows with "Bob". My camera took some halfway decent pics; I'll post a few later. I was also surprised and happy to see WBUL despite the SRO set-up.
Sorry if this review is a bit choppy but once again, I got lost in Richmond and instead of going to my aunt's house, as soon as I found the turn-off for 64 West, I headed home. I got in about 4:15am and I've been up since 7:45am Tuesday, with only about 3 hours sleep on Monday night. My brain is a bit fried at the moment! Once I get some sleep, I might think of some more stuff to add.
