As I said before, I love to hear spoilers about the ALbums before they come out. But I don't want to hear a song early or to read any of the lyrics before the CD is released. When I read the introduction to Couch Potato before it came out, it ruined it for me. (Just the intro, not the whole song.) I want the CD to be completely new when I first hear it.
Also, I'm going to want to hear it with other people. I don't know why, but I always find something a lot more funny if I'm hearing/watching/reading it with someone else for at least the first time I hear/see/read it.

Curious -- at what moment does discussion of the new album become non-spoiler information on WOWAY? Is it September 26th, or is there a grace period of a day or two that allows everyone to get the album and enjoy it before risking being spoiled by visiting here?

If you don't buy the album on September 26, I wouldn't come here until you have it. We are merciless to those that can't get it on the day of release.
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

I'm solidly in Group #1, but I would probably stop short of reading lyrics before listening. I wouldn't want to miss some of the lyrical surprises that come with only hearing a song for the first time. Reading lyrics first would kill any "punch" the finished song might have.

I hate reading lyrics early. I'm just now catching up on getting WAY-BHD, & because I've read the lyrics to pretty much all the songs, they've been...well...spoiled.
As for hearing one of the songs early, that's a different story! Very early in my fandom I *sigh* hooliganised PFFAR & TD, and listened to them constantly (as they were the only Al in my library). When I got PH & RWS, the album wasn't spoiled, but was, in fact, a whole lot better!
