Good luck Kristine! I know you're a fantastic photographer so I'm sure it will be good. Gate 5, eh? Maybe that should be a meeting place for us and for Diva to hand out the name tags. Nothing would be more awesome than walking the fair with my fellow WOWAYers, well, except if Al and the band were there too.

What I was thinking of doing is handing out business sized cards to people with info on the Walk of Fame drive on one side and info on the Rock Hall drive on the other.

I haven't really looked into the cost yet, but it shouldn't be too costly if we print them up ourselves on our own computer.

Thoughts?

I don't recommend mixing the two campaigns on one document, SG--we have found that many people think the two projects are the same, and that all they need to do is sign a petition and Al will get a star...

I do have business card sized artwork and text for the Star Fund that we used the first couple years, and I can send that to you if you're interested in using it. But you are very clever with this type of thing, so I'm sure whatever design you come up with would be great.

Gate 5 is a service gate- you won't be able to get over there when the fair is open. The closest is Gate 4.

As far as design stuff, I could come up with something.
I know a printer, too. Printing at home would get expensive.

Edit: I can get a bunch of postcards made from VistaPrint.
What should I put on them?

It's pretty crazy. I'm finally home after not being here (my parents' house) in a year. In 19 days I am moving out to LA to start a new life in the film business. And the second day after I arrive, I am going to see Weird Al live in concert! (Thanks Kristine!)

Actually, Gate 5 during Fair is a public gate. When you take the shuttle over from the college parking lot, you are dropped off at Gate 5. I don't think Gate 4 is a public gate.

Thanks for the info. I'm just trying to think of places the WOWAYers could meet for nametags and chatting, plus we could walk the fair or something.

I say meet in front of the Arena cause that's our destination place, so people who haven't been there before will see it and then walk from there and back.

Also, my great aunt wants to know for also my cousin is what is the closet hotel to the fairgrounds? Could someone help me out with this? I found the OC Fair's list of hotels, but it doesn't tell how close one is.

I'll be staying at the Comfort Inn on Newport Blvd. Five years ago it was the Econolodge. It's only about a half mile from the fairgrounds and their rates are $105/night for a double. It has free wireless Internet and a swimming pool.

Hotels in the Santa Ana/ Costa Mesa/ Newport Beach area:

Travelodge Orange County
Holiday Inn Costa Mesa- Orange County Airport
Hilton
The Westin
Comfort Inn
Days Inn
Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites
La Quinta Inn John Wayne Orange County Airport

The closest one to the fairgrounds is Travelodge Orange County (2 star) on Bristol on the other side of the 55. And the prices are low, too.

The next closest is Holiday Inn Costa Mesa- Orange County Airport (3 star) on Bristol. It's a bit further north, closer to the 405. It's a bit more expensive, too. Literally right next to this Holiday is a Hilton if you want a four star.
