"Hardware Store" vocals? :inlove: Yes it IS hot in here(here not herre!), SD, and it's not just you...

Al has a fantastic voice. I can't emphasize that enough. Not only does he have a great speaking voice, he has a great singing voice, which is rare. Few people have BOTH. Ok, down off of my soapbox...

I noticed the "U Can't Touch This" and "Superfreak" similiarities before...in fact, I got hyped up about "Hammertime" until I heard Rick James..(I kinda like both songs...)

I'm sure Al's version is infinitely better...unfortunatly, due to monetary constraints, I don't even have that ALbum yet...

ttyl all!

QUOTE How is sampling different from copyright infringement?

Hehe- I dunno, but Vanilla Ice almost got in trouble for it over "Under Pressure" for not crediting Queen/ David Bowie. If you've seen his Behind The Music, his explanation of how "Ice Ice Baby" was not the same as the "Under Pressure" riff....well, it was funny to say the least. His version had an extra "ching." Sure, Robert....that makes it completely different. :sarcasm:

Any tiny way they can find to skirt around the issue...All I can say is I'm glad it's not MY music!! ;)

Ah, Al....<dreamy sigh>...it's been almost 20 minutes since I've heard an Al song...gotta go! <chair falls to floor>..

I really like U Can't Touch This. Not a big fan of the Super Freak, Super Freak, she's super frea-kay-ow! Al's version, I Can't Watch This, is one of my favorite songs. It's got that Hammer vibe (actually, that Rick James vibe, I guess) plus it's one of those Al songs that is chock full of pop-culture references. I listed a few of them here.

And the icing on the cake, bringing this back on topic, is it's one of Al's low voice songs. His low voice is yummy.

Then again, I hear the live performance of this little ditty is extremely droolworthy.

So, yeah. It's a good song.

That would be Off The Deep End. The cover and liner art is worth the price of admission.

Can I get you a nice fluffy towel, Al? :inlove:

Yes, You Can't Watch This does have a lower tone to it.

*sigh* That song makes me wish I had the insight to grab my oldest sister's MC Hammer pants and keep them before she threw them away.

Well, it hurts you worse than it hurts us, but resist. Say that kind of stuff often enough, and you start believing it. Or if you absolutely HAVE to say it, then sing Generic Blues loudly and then just go bowling instead. :)
