I've read somewhere (not sure where) that Al structures his parodies in a way in which each verse is progressively funnier than the previous one in order to maintain interest in the song. I think that might have been the PR:AITB booklet where I read that. So, it makes sense for him to put the weakest (and most predictable) of the three ACS ideas at the beginning. I agree that the rollercoaster bit was the best.

Dr. Demento has mentioned that Al works that way.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Yeah, I remember reading that too. However, I still happen to think that, in the case of A Complicated Song, the quality of the verses is so strikingly contrasted as to render the first verse downright weak and the last verse absolutely spectacular.

I think the first verse of ACS was just a "he had to" type thing; the casual Al fans (I don't mean "casual" like I used to be, I mean "casual" like "hooligans who think every parody in the world is done by Al") would have complained if he hadn't used the pun.
"Wow, another triple negative!"

I thought that the cousin part was the best but I guess he didn't want to leave off the song with something as...well...contoversial, perhaps?

I liked that song, but I agree that the last verse is the best.

Alapalooza is just a pretty weak AL-bum overall. The only decent songs on it are Bedrock Anthem, Harvey the Wonder Hamster, Jurassic Park...Aaanndd that's about it. NOT a good album. Actually, I mostly like Bedrock Anthem's video. (Do NOT ask why. It's just one of his more bizzare ones.) Off the Deep End was better, I liked most of the songs on it. I don't own Poodle Hat yet, but I shall soon.

Actually, I like every song on Off the Deep End, except Airline Amy. It's cute, but not especially funny.
Are we playin' horseshoes, honey? No, I don't think we are...
