And Miss Janine? You and I are apparently in the final stages of AL obsession. But I can live with that.

And it's a lovely place to be. *drools*

Well, let's break down Eric's wish list a bit here, shall we??

PizzaQuick (is that TWAS?)
Yup, that was on Episode 3603 ["Bad Influence"], which incidentally was the premiere episode of TWAS on September 13, 1997. ["At Pizza Quick, your pie comes right out of the oven and goes right out the door. No boxes, no putting it in boxes, NO BOXES!"] It could be filler, much like the "Educational Films" were on the "Weird Al Live!" DVD, but I think there are other better and more likely candidates for inclusion.

60% COR
Now, THIS is my vote for most hoped for inclusion. "60 Percent Chance Of Rain" [from TWAS Ep#3611] is one funny movie promo spoof! And a big favorite on the big video screen in concerts. But is it a video?? Al might not include it for this reason alone. But I for one would LOVE to see it. I especially want to read the credits at the end -- the few I can make out on my slightly fuzzy VHS copy are hysterical too!!!

Fred Huggins (First I'll start by taking off these big shoozy-woozies...)
*snickers* They probably wouldn't be a part of the DVD, unless good old Al wants them in for Fred's memorable song performances ... "Water Is Wet" [Ep#3603] and "I Like You" [Ep#3604], specifically. Also, then if those were included, would they have to put in other ones like "Cheese" [Ep#3602], "The Kitty Song" [Ep#3613], or any of the songs from the "Because I Said So" episode [#3607], where Al sings almost EVERYTHING in the show?? ["I quit, I quit, I QUIIIIIIIT!!!"].

LITF/ Lasagna
I'd say these are the most likely ones -- after all, this *IS* a video collection, and those ARE two videos made exclusively for the show. They may or may not require permission from Dick Clark Productions, if Al made these himself on his own time. He may need permissions from Aerosmith and Los Lobos/the estate of Ritchie Valens for them as well -- but he got permission for the song, and I don't think they'd pull an Eminem and deny permission for the video. But since they were broadcast on national television once before, maybe these permissions were already given. The one I'd worry about not seeing is "Lousy Haircut", since it was never on an album -- but was that because Prodigy denied permission for a full song, or is it because Al felt a full song about a lousy haircut might wear thin after only a few lines?? Here again, though, Prodigy likely had to give permission in 1997 since the snippet video was in fact broadcast on national television. So --- we'll just hafta see ....

Musical Guests? BNL specifically
Now, that would be cool. But then again, if he includes BNL, wouldn't he have to also include the performances of Radish, All4One, Immature, Buford [aka Charles Fleischer], and even ... brrrrr ... Hanson??
Also, I'm not sure Al would feature other artists on his own DVD. Not that he would be snooty about showcasing other talent [even those he likes a lot, like BNL], but I think he thinks people would gripe, "Hey, this is a Weird Al DVD! WTF is Radish doing on it???" I'd say, not likely [though BNL's "Shoe Box" was a terrific performance -- also on the "Bad Influence" episode, BTW].

A medley of Harvey's greatest moments
Mmmph... Well, again, much as I'd like to see 'em, these aren't likely to make it onto a "video collection" DVD.

You left out one other possibility -- the "Educational Films" Al liked to show. Now, we already got "Germs And You" and "Crimes Of Carelessness" off the "Live!" DVD. But we MUST HAVE "Our Friend Dirt"!!!! My fav. Also, let's not forget:

Man, I would so LUV to get those on DVD ....

Another (distant) possibility is the "Fatman" cartoons from Episodes 3604 [with Evil Uncle Frank and the Procrastinator], 3606 [with Dr. Quimby P. Legume and the pea soup], 3610 [with the Egg Man -- "goo goo ga joob!"], and 3611 [with the ... uh ... "evil alien pirates that look like giant fish" ....]. Again, though, not truly videos ... but would be tres cool to have on DVD.

[And I wholly agree with Elvis ... the act that they are even considering putting anything from TWAS on this DVD makes the prospect of a full set of TWAS Episodes on DVD a good bit more promising!!!!!]

Okay, I've occupied enough cyberspace for one post ... carry on, troops ...

Yea, like "Pirate Daycare" and "Pirate Roofing." Hehehehe....

:P

Actually, I really love one of the spots Martha Quinn did: ..."They ask, 'How's it going?' And you say, 'Not much.' *shakes head* 'You've just lost a friend.'"

He may need permissions from Aerosmith and Los Lobos/the estate of Ritchie Valens for them as well
Actually, the version of La Bamba that Al parodied was by Los Del Rio, not Los Lobos. But I don't think he'd need permission from Los Del Rio either, just Ritchie Valens (is he dead? Okay, then, his estate!).
But since they were broadcast on national television once before, maybe these permissions were already given.
I don't think Al ever got *permission* for those to be on TWAS (not that he would need to anyway). If you look at ALTV (doctored videos, "Chipmunk" videos, interviews) and ALMusic (GE&H specifically), apparently he doesn't feel he needs to get permission to spoof someone on TV or in concert. He only gets permission when the song/video is being released and available to buy.
The one I'd worry about not seeing is "Lousy Haircut", since it was never on an album -- but was that because Prodigy denied permission for a full song, or is it because Al felt a full song about a lousy haircut might wear thin after only a few lines??

That video was purely a brief visual gag. I don't think even Al could have turned that into a whole song. Plus, it only works with the video anyway.

[quote]I don't think it's been mentioned here yet, but one of the special things on the American release will be "Al's first network TV appearance." It's more than likely that means the performance of AORTB on Tom Snyder's "Tomorrow" Show.

Well that has been mentioned before on page 15 of this topic by me.
