Oh, you're right. I just looked at my chapter index on The Videos DVD. There are 22 chapters, but I didn't notice that the first chapter is "Program Start." So you're right. There are 23 videos + Bob makes 24!
Woo hoo! Bob WILL be on the DVD!
I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. I remember reading in quite a few of those interviews posted over at the hanging with 27 (or whatever it's called) topic that "Bob" was just for Al TV and concert use, and it wasn't intended to be a video.
I think of "Bob" along the lines as I think of the videos for LITF, "Lasagna," "Lousy Haircut," and GE&H. If he's gonna put "Bob" on there, he might as well include those too.
Of course, I don't know what this means, because weirdal.com even says that it's unlikely there will be a video for PH. I still think it would be a wise move for Al to put out a video in Australia for PH to help promote the Australia tour, but, unless he started it already, does he have enough time to shoot a video, edit it, and get it to the DVD duplicators in time for a 9/22 release?

Yes, but what else could it be?

He can't. Those video clips are owned by Dick Clark Productions. He'd have to get permission to do that. That's why only the ALTV "educational videos" were put on the Live DVD and not the TWAS ones. Plus, he never got permission for the Prodigy one.

No. That's why I think it has to be Bob, or perhaps it might be Babalu Music, but I doubt that.

I concur to the 27th power!!! That would be a smart move for him, and a satisfying move for all of us.

How long does it take to make a video? I couldn't find info at The Mothership, but in the commentary track for TSB, Al said it was a two day shoot. So apparently, if all goes well it doesn't take long to shoot. And as far as the editing goes who knows? Does Al do the actual editing too? I don't know that either. But Poodle Hat was sent in on April 21 and on the store shelves by May 20, so with luck it
could be done.
But which one? I would guess Trash Day. But as much as I'd love to see a video, my money is on Bob. Don't forget, for the Aussies that will be new. At least until AL-TV airs.

But there's also pre-production involved...writing and storyboarding the video itself, getting the crew and having them prepare their various departments, scheduling studio or location time, etc. I'm not sure how long that entire process takes for one of Al's videos, but it would be very, very tight for Al to pull it off before they leave for Australia (even if he started planning things while on the road). He probably
could do it, but knowing that this would be the only real music video for "Poodle Hat," there's always the risk that such a video could look rushed.

Unfortunately the choices would most likely be either "Trash Day" or "A Complicated Song." My preference would be the latter, but really neither seem like they would be ripe for a full-blown zany Weird Al video.
But of course, this is all under the speculation of "If Al is gonna shoot a brand-new video." I'm going to agree with the theory that "Bob" is this mysterious 24th video on the DVD.
Hopefully, there are some surprises on this new DVD. After all, the two commentaries for the RWS videos on "Live!" were hidden.

I really hope video #24 is not "Bob" for that very reason. The "Bob" video looks really rushed and low budget to me, nowhere on par with the high budget, high quality stuff Al's done in the past. Plus it's basically one joke. The video works better as the shortened one-verse clip that they play in concert.
If the mystery video does turn out to be "Bob," I'll relunctantly accept it as a video, but next time we do video survivor, I'm voting it off in the first round.
Could mysterious video #24 be the alternate version of "This Is The Life" or perhaps one of the sped up polka montages? Maybe it's the animated opening to TWAS? Or maybe it's "Germs" from "Live!," which was shown as a video once on one of the Al TV's. All those seem about as likely as "Bob" though. :eh:
Like I said, I don't think there's going to be a PH video, no matter how hard fans cadge, so as for mysterious video #24, I'm just going to have to wait to speculate any further until we get more information. I'm out of ideas.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. Still if Bob is it, well... I guess it's better than nothing.
Now for the Easter Egg speculation...

Well, it wouldn't be "Germs" live since that's already on the Live DVD. It also can't be any of the Polka montage vids because of legal rights. The opening of TWAS sounds like a good idea, but again, that's owned by Dick Clark Productions, not Al (but then again he was able to release the song on RWS...).
Also, Dave, "Bob" is supposed to look cheap and crappy. It is a direct take off on the Dylan video. Yes, it is just one joke, but in a way I think that's what I like about it!
CatraDhtem is right! Those commentary tracks from the Live DVD were "hidden!" So there could very well be commentaries on ALL the videos for this release! They wouldn't announce it because it is a "hidden" feature.

How do you access the hidden feature on the Live DVD?

The commentary track for TSB and IAATP is on one of the alternate audio tracks.
Is that the only easter egg on WAY live?
