Yes..okay thats what i thought happened..wasnt sure tho...when you listen tot he song..you can kind hear in his voice that he just doesnt wanna do it...

It's a historical ficiton piece of conversation. Didn't really happen, but that's almost what did.

I think with the more recent albums, the last song recorded was recorded last so that it would be more timely and current. That is surely true with "Amish Paradise" and "Smells Like Nirvana," clearly among the strongest songs on their respective albums. "The Saga Begins" was last because Al needed to get the plot of the movie just right. "A Complicated Song" probably took longer, because as Al said, he had several different ideas for the "Complicated" parody and had trouble one that would carry a whole song before deciding on combining several ideas.

I have to disagree about Trash Day being the weakest parody on Poodle Hat. The trouble with Trash Day is that the original song is kind of crass, but comparing the Hot In Herre lyrics with Al's, he did some very skillful lines that are very close to the originals, and the little riff about whose job it's going to be to wield the mop with the name on it is still funny to me.

My candidate for weakest parody is Complicated Song. It does have funny lines, but the fact that it's three different subjects in three different verses gives it a sort of tossed-salad effect that weakens the song overall. Al himself admitted that none of the three ideas was strong enough to carry a whole song, and more recently he even 'fessed up to being a little sorry to have done the constipation verse, because it was greeted with such long-pent-up glee by the morning drive-time DJs.

Eh, I believe that Ebay was the weakest parody on PH.

Maybe it's because ever since my dad heard it (Bob was his first PH song, IIRC), he's been singing "Won it on ebay" over and over...

How about Isle Thing? That song isn't great.

I really don't think that Livin in the Fridge is last minute parody, it's one of his best.

Just because your Dad sings the eBay song a lot doesn't make it a weak parody. I think Al did a great job with that song! He even did a little A.J. impression after holding the note on the word now. hehe! *I'm also an ebayer, so it struck me funny* I'll have to go with OE's choice for weakest parody and say A Complicated song, too. I still like the song, but, it's not as good as the other parodies.

"eBay" is an awesome parody! While the Backstreet Boys are kind of lame, they do have very good voices. It's amazing how Al can perform the five different parts flawlessly and it sounds just as good as the original.

"A Complicated Song" is, IMO, the funniest parody on "Poodle Hat." I think the combination of three completely different ideas makes it unique and very funny. Because the first time you listen to it, you don't know what's going to happen next. I definately laughed the hardest on this parody on "Poodle Hat."

Probably the weakest parodies are "Couch Potato" and "Trash Day." But CP stands so far above TD because the original ("Lose Yourself") is an brilliantly written song, much better than "Hot in Herrre." I agree, OE, that TD has it's strengths, but it's just not as funny or clever as the others.
