Well, I don't know about Al cross referencign his own songs, but I find it cool when he references another song by the same artist as he's parodying in the parody. For example, I can think of five off the top of my head:

1) In "The Plumbing Song" there is a line that goes "Girl you know it's true." This is the title of another Milli Vanilli hit.

2) Similarilly, in "Isle Thing" he says "Ginger and Mary Anne coulda used some 'funky cold medina (sp?)'" This is the title of Tone Loc's other hit song from the same time as "Wild Thing."

3)In the video for "Eat It" at the end Al turns around to reveal werewolf eyes, like at the end of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video. Also, the opening of "Nature Trail To Hell" is very similar to "Thriller."

4) In the video for "Like A Surgeon" the last few seconds in which Al and two other people are dancing is a parody of Madonna's "Lucky Star" video.

5) At the end of "Off The Deep End" there is a long period of silence followed by Al screaming for a few short seconds, similar to a "hidden" track of Kurt Kobain screaming out a "song" at the end of Nirvana's "Nevermind" album.

6) Oh yeah, and the video for "It's All About The Pentiums" references several other Puffy videos.

Are there any others that I'm missing?

From "You Make Me" on Even Worse:

You make me want to take my hamster to the beach.

The hamster Al wishes to take to the beach is Harvey, of course. :)

I still think "The Night Santa Went Crazy" makes a better Soul Asuylum parody (Of their song "Black Gold") than "Syndicated Inc.". It sounds almost dead on.
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

...I really doubt if he uses the same lyric twice within a span of several years that he is cross refrencing another song. A parody where he refrences another song or video of the artist he is doing the parody of is simply part of the gag. An example of a good cross refrence is They Might Be Giant's "Hey Mr. DJ, I though you said we had a deal." TMBG actually have true cross song refrences when they say, "Well I told you about the world (it's address)...You know that rabid child is still tuning in, Chess piece face's patience must be wearing thin."

Those are three refrences to their own songs 'The World's Address', 'Rabid Child', and 'Chess Piece Face'. I really doubt that when Al says 'it' somewhere in RWS, he's making some cross refrence to an 'it' somewhere in Alapalooza e.e

"Now I can watch the Simpsons from 30 blocks away"

"Why'd you have to interrupt the Simpsons just for this?"

I don't think I have to say what song each one is. You all already know.

I don't imagine Al would reference his own songs. But I think he does directly reference other artist's songs, although I couldn't name any. Cuz I'm chronically clueless like that.
