My little sis and I were watching some of the Grammys while my mum was out, and when they started playing Lose Yourself, my sister was like "Hey! It's Weird Al!" and I'm like "WHERE?????" and then I realized that it was only Eminem....... and inferred that either my sister is stone deaf, or Couch Potato was an incrediblly convincing parody.

I'll take Option B. Dare we hope that people will start coming up to Eminem and saying, "You're so cool! I've been a fan of yours ever since Eat It!"
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

LOL.

Stone deaf is another British phrase. I think it's supposed to mean 'deaf as a stone'.

And, iisryan...... in your opinion. OK, he is pretty talented, and I was kinda rooting for him, but that doesn't change the fact that he's evil and screwed up any chance of a video for Poodle Hat. Grrr.

It's a phrase we use in America too. And yeah, when I heard them playing Lose Yourself as they went to commercial, I had that momentary IT'S AL!! then Oh, no it's just Em reaction.

And why was that song up anyway? Isn't it more than a year old? How long do you get to skate on one song?

This just shows how dead-on Al's parodies are. I also had that momentary, "It's Al!" thought before realizing it's Eminem. It keeps happening too, no matter how many times I've convinced myself that the world isn't kind enought to put Al on TV like that or the radio.

I have always wondered that too. There was a duet by Roosanne and Johnny Cash up for an award (I think it won) that is VERY old. I guess a song can win just as long as it has enough votes, and age doesn't seem to matter.

actually back off topic for a moment:

When Alicia Keys was singing and then Celine Dion did any other area besides mine have horrible sound reception? I could tell these 2 performances were really good but my channel screwed up the sound and didn't fix it until Richard Marx came on. Just wondering if that happened to anyone els?

Yes, it looked to me like it was an actual sound problem (as opposed to our TV stations messing it up), because Celine looked like it was bothering her, and she pulled her earpieces out while she was singing.

Yeah I saw Celine pull out her ear piece. I thought the problem might be there. Thanks for letting me know it wasn't just me.

Maybe she couldn't stand to hear her own voice. I know I have that reaction to hearing her music.

Um... topic?

Yay, AL!

Another Al at the Grammies quote:

Even comedian Weird Al Yankovic is tired of polka king Jimmy Sturr winning a Grammy every year.

Weird Al was back talking to reporters about his Grammy win for best comedy album when he was asked about Mr. Sturr's fourth consecutive polka Grammy.

''Jimmy Sturr winning? He always wins!'' Al said.

''He's a polka-holic.''

Who's Jimmy Sturr? :dontgetit:
