It'd be a missed opportunity if they left out stuff like "Jurashiku Park," "Take Me Down," "School Cafeteria," etc. Anyone who is going to buy a 15-disc Weird Al box set already owns "Headline News." I mean, it should still be included out of completeness, but if it's going to be a short disc like Essential 3.0 and everything is easily accessible on CD somehow...this whole release becomes significantly less exciting.

I'd also love for the Dr. Demento fan club demos to be included, but I'm not counting on that.

"Headline News", "Spy Hard", "Polkamon" and they're asking about "You're Pitiful" again

See that would make more sense than putting in any of the Pre-My Bologna efforts, although I would love it if the disc featured songs that were featured on TV, such as Polka Patterns, or perhaps a full, proper version of Homer and Marge, that's exclusive to the boxed set and nowhere else.

I wonder if the re-recorded song from the first album he did recently would go on there.
Love and peace.

In case you missed it, Al just did a brief interview with GQ that was all about this box set. I have to admit that Al kind of answered my stupid question when he said "Each of the folds contains either an album or a CD" as I at one point thought that they might just package the whole set with both the vinyl and CD versions of each album all together. Now, I'm just left wondering if the CD only version of the set will come in a smaller size accordion box and be less expensive than the than the vinyl only release?

http://www.gq.com/story/weird-al-yankov ... al_twitter" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So, based on what's been speculated by us and Al (both in GQ and on the CBB podcast) and what Al and his label were comfortable enough to release on previous such compilations as "rarities" this may be (give or take) the most likely track list for us to expect for the rarities disc (in no particular order certain clearances pending, obviously). He may not release EVERYTHING suggested here but this should be enough "rarities" to fill one whole disk

1. Polkamon
2. Spy Hard
3. Headline News
4. You're Pitiful
5. Jurashiku Park
6. My Bologna (Capitol Records Single)
7. Happy Birthday (Placebo EP)
8. Mr. Frump In The Iron Lung (Placebo EP)
9. Gotta Boogie (Placebo EP)
10. Pac Man (Dr Dementos' Basement Tapes)
11. It's Still Billy Joel To Me (Dr. Ds' Basement Tapes)
12. Yoda (Home Demo Version)
13. Stop Draggin' My Car Around (Home Demo Version)
14. School Cafeteria (My Bologna Capitol B-Side)
15 The Night Santa Went Crazy (extra gory version)
16. UHF (Single Version)
17. The Alternative Polka (Weezer/Buddy Holly edit)
18. (possible new song?)

Speaking of "possible new songs" to include in this release, I think that it might behoove Al to include one brand new parody on this release that will be used to promote the box set much in the same way that "Headline News" was used to promote "Permanent Record". More specifically, Al should take some of his time off the road next year to figure out what may be the hot new "song of the summer" of 2017 (the same way he apparently determined that "Fancy" was the song of the summer of 2014 to parody like "Blurred Lines" was the song of the previous summer and "Call Me Maybe" was the song of the summer before that and that "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" was the biggest hit of the entire year of 1994 that he could've parodied and released as a single) and include a parody of it on the box set that could also be released as an iTunes single the same day.

He could also include one really last new polka medley of songs he may have wanted to do since the release of MF if he doesn't mind filling out that "mountain of paperwork" one last time (but then again, if thus does include "Polkamon" then I don't know about the including two polkas on the same disc).

Something tells me Al may just be more motivated to make this new song an original and call it a day at this point in his career, but a parody may actually be better.

That's a very solid tracklist that I think everyone would be happy with--I'd also like to see "Take Me Down" included, because off the top of my head that's the only released rarity you missed, aside from B-sides from the "Amish Paradise" and "Gump" CD singles, which are easy enough to track down (there's also the so-called 'alternate mix' of "Christmas at Ground Zero" from the "Headline News" single, which features, like, different sleigh bells or something but is virtually identical).

My assumption has always been that there would be separate box sets for the vinyl and CD versions...otherwise, you're looking at a price tag of at least $300. I mean, they might do a set with everything together, but if they don't split them, they'd lose so many sales. I've seen plenty of super-deluxe sets that include the vinyl and CDs together, but usually that's just one or two records, not 14 or 15. And hopefully they don't constrain the rarities disc to a single slab of vinyl but fill up the CD and let it take up two records.

But, but, but,
and a collection of rarities that he says will delight even the most obsessive of obsessives.

So far, if this speculation turns out to be true...I dunno.

I don't really see any reason why 126 would ever be a released. Al's done promos in the past before that never merited a physical release, why would this?
