Best Parody Target
Forgetting about the now well-known Weird Al parodies, which of these five original songs do you actually like the most?

Re: Best Parody Target
"Girls Just Want To Have Fun" is the quintessential 80s pop song. Although I'm a big fan of Huey Lewis and the News, that song has never been a favorite.
In order:
Girls Just Want to Have Fun
Lola
I Want a New Drug
Like a Virgin

All of these songs are really good in their own way, but if I must make only one choice... I have to go with Huey Lewis.

Re: Best Parody Target
Like I said, this is a good one for targets.
All 4 have a solid case. I've never been a Madonna fan, but Like a Virgin is one of those songs you just got to hand it to her for, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is such a great, fun song (And I' saw Cyndi in concert in 87, so there's an extra appreciation for her), love the Kinks, but Lola's kind of an overrated song compared to their other stuff.
But really, come on, did you really think I'd vote for anyone else besides Huey Lewis?

You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

In order:
1) "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" - very 80s, still a classic, fun song - with a message!
2) "Lola"
3) "I Want A New Drug"
4) "Like A Virgin"

This one is easy. I love Huey Lewis & the News, so I Want a New Drug is my favorite, though not my favorite Huey song.

Yeah, agreed, can't rock out to Like A Virgin. Lola is great of course.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

Re: Best Parody Target
I think maybe because it's a bit older and not as familiar to Al fans. I certainly don't hear it on oldies stations as often as I hear American Pie or Piano Man.TMBJon wrote:How is Lola not running away with this???
