Mission Statement. Music wise, it's brilliant. Lyric wise, eh, not so much.

I have to agree with you.Grom wrote:Sports Song is musically good but man, it's just not that funny to me. I get the joke, but it's just...very underwhelming. Easily skipped by me.

So far I'm not crazy about Inactive or Lame Claim to Fame.

Sports Song is awesome. Who doesn't like to yell you really suck! Mission Statement is also an amazingly written original. Every song on here pretty much gets better and better the more you listen. Both those songs probably should not be done live though, because the speed and what not.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

My Own Eyes and Lame Claim to Fame -- the music style just isn't my thing, though I appreciate the humour of the lyrics.
And Mission Statement -- but, unlike most of the other negative takes on this one, I find the lyrics *brilliant* and the *music* horribly boring.
I'm iffy on Jackson Park Express. I love the concept, but find that it stretches the joke a bit too long, perhaps. If the music were fantastic, that makes up for weaker lyrics - and vice versa. But it's not a musical style I really get into. I love SPOTS of this one, but on the whole, it's probably one I'll end up skipping a lot.
The rest is gold.
I love Inactive, and I love Sports Song and will defend it with my dying breath. I totally agree with Just a Bill's analysis of it. It's the juxtaposition of the overly cerebral main section followed by the childish taunting chant of the trio section. I also love marches. And it's very Monty Python-esque -- many of their great funny songs were this style of march.

Jackson Park Express. It's just too out there humor-wise. It's a long song, too. I dunno, it's just kinda creepy.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

I have to go with Inactive. I wasn't super-familiar with the original, although I definitely recognized it when I heard it. Yesterday I heard "Radioactive" on the radio twice and I realized the vocals on that (at least during the verses) are VERY clear and mixed in the front as opposed to Al's version.

For me it's the funniest song in the album, but I see how one can find it too disturbingalgonacchick wrote:Jackson Park Express. It's just too out there humor-wise. It's a long song, too. I dunno, it's just kinda creepy.
