Good draft CR, though I'd swap "Story Of My Life" and "Get Lucky", because I think the latter works better in the ending section of the polka.

I just realized today that the song "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea/Charli XCX would make for decent polka/parody foddeer if it got more exposure. It's probably more likely for the polka, which is good because it's almost tailor made for one.

Thank you! The reason I left Macklemore out of the polka because "Can't Hold Us" is my best hunch for an already-recorded parody. I don't think Al wants to double up another artist for parody/polka like with Gaga last time.mrmeadows wrote:Good polka draft, CN. I still say "Brave" will make the polka, as will something by Macklemore/Lewis (most likely "Thrift Shop", mainly since Al singing the chorus will allow for another fun "censored" sound effect for "this is smurfin' awesome".)
I'm not crazy about either "Get Lucky" or for that matter "Story of My Life" as the last song of the polka, myself, but we'll see, maybe something better will come along. I guess nothing will ever top closing a polka medley with "Closing Time." by Semisonic in my mind. *le sigh*harryhenry wrote:Good draft CR, though I'd swap "Story Of My Life" and "Get Lucky", because I think the latter works better in the ending section of the polka.

When Al was on the latest "Comedy Bang Bang", he mentioned that he was going into the studio next month to record some new songs but that he hasn't found his lead single yet and that he might look for the next big song of this summer. At this point, it's safe to say Al will have two new parodies recorded by the end of May.

That's excellent! So out of those 2 new parodies, who'd like one to be of "All of Me" by John Legend?Killingsworth wrote:When Al was on the latest "Comedy Bang Bang", he mentioned that he was going into the studio next month to record some new songs but that he hasn't found his lead single yet and that he might look for the next big song of this summer. I'd like to see this too. That's one of those songs that's so easy to imagine Al just naturally singing that it might be a huge missed opportunity for him not to parody.CharlesNelson wrote:So out of those 2 new parodies, who'd like one to be of "All of Me" by John Legend?
If Al hasn't written this already, I'm sure it has a chance to be the lead single (although video-wise, that would be a bit of a challenge so it might be better off as a supporting parody). Still, Al parodying John Legend would be like a throwback to the SOL era where urban R&B/hip hop fare dominated his parodies.
Speaking of which, I was thinking about how funny it might be if Al did a Beyonce Drunk In Love/Partition parody about how ridiculously oversexualized her songs have gotten lately.

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
I can see "All of Me" by John Legend having some serious potential. The lyrical structure is pretty good parody-wise, & it's a top song right now. Hopefully Al does consider it. Maybe he'll consider "Happy" too since that seems to be extremely popular. I can see it being a supporting parody for sure.
I'm not fully expecting any of these either but I'd like to see Al have a go at either "Dark Horse", "Let It Go", "Royals" or maybe even "Timber".

You gotta assume if he hasn't already parodied Get Lucky, he's probably looking at Happy.

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
Yeah, I don't know if we've talked that much about "Happy" in this thread yet but it is a huge hit right now. Still, even though I don't totally expect him to parody it it's a distinct possibility. I'm not sure what Al would even do with that one. If Al didn't already start recording a parody of this already, it could end up being the next lead single.
Also, since word has gotten out two new songs were recorded just this week I think there's a good chance one of them was the polka medley. Al has said he has to deal with a "mountain of paperwork" for each polka so it makes sense that he recorded it this week and not in December/February if it turns out he just got all the royalties and paperwork squared away within the past few weeks or so.

Re: Album 14 Timeline/Spoiler Updates
Great news! I guess since just the band posted about this and not Al yet, it could be another December/February type situation where Al has to come in much later to record his part.
