I've heard Tim Heidecker's Peas/Dylan/Madonna pastiches when they came out. They were funny and all, but I just like Daly's RCHP2014 song better. He seemed to be more into it than Tim. Daly's RHCP obviously came from a place of affection and appreciation for the original group.

Thoughts on Bruno Mars?

I thought he was mostly irrelevant by this point but then he did the halftime show at the Superbowl so I don't even know anymore.
Also he wasn't really represented on Alpocalypse (other than Nothin' On You/Another Tattoo which was more like a song he was guesting on)
So I'm not sure, really. Maybe Locked Out of Heaven if anything? I don't really mind either way I guess.

If Al was gonna do an actual Bruno Mars song (and not one he was just featured on) I'd rather he do "When I Was Your Man" than "Locked Out Of Heaven" or "Treasure". The last two don't lend themselves as well lyrically to parodies.

I don't really foresee it. Like you said, he was already represented on Alpocalypse. Given B.o.B.'s career trajectory since then, it almost counts more as a Bruno Mars song especially considering he wrote and produced Nothin' On You in addition to singing the hook.

It's certainly plausible that one of the aforementioned songs will make the polka, but after watching the Grammys last week I am utterly convinced that there are at least five artists out there that Al has never parodied (Macklemore, Lorde, the list is fairly obvious), and he won't have to target Bruno Mars or Katy Perry or other acts that he has already touched upon.

I really hope you're right. It seems like the artists who keep getting mentioned here are specifically those who've been parodied or polkafied on Alpocalypse, as if there aren't any other options out there. But between the Grammy awards, the Billboard charts and...uh...Saturday Night Live, I suppose...there are plenty of other artists who are dominating the airwaves besides Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. I still think that a folk section of the polka is feasible (if nothing else, I stand by my previous supposition that "Ho Hey" is practically begging to be in a polka medley), and it seems like Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Maroon 5, Lorde, Macklemore and maybe even Bastille have a shot at being parodied.

If nothing else, I would imagine that Al and company are pretty psyched that there are more actual bands that are popular these days (y'know, as opposed to individual artists).

This should just be the mission statement of these topics each time an album comes out

Well maybe not 100 times.....

With news that Al is back in the studio this week. It's a safe bet he's already got two of the parodies written at least.

What do you think the lead single will be? (since AL is obviously going to be looking one very soon so it's gotta be a song out right now)
What do you think any of the supporting parodies that may be recorded this month will be?

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking the strongest possibilities seem to be Lorde, Kendrick Lamar, One Direction (but not as lead single at this point, obviously) and Imagine Dragons (although all of them could easily go into the polka instead)
