This is a new venue, open less than a year, and it was just beautiful. Excellent sound and sight lines, and kind of an angular, neo-Art Deco décor. Unusual to see a new place with this much artistry in it!
It's really hard to point out anything specific about the show, when they are so uniformly excellent that there's often nothing commentable unless something goes wrong... and I'm not aware of anything that did. Something that was
not something going wrong... Al kindly informed me that I'm on fire. That's always useful information.
Got to hang with friends at lunch and dinner and concert and, yes, standing around on the sidewalk after the show (hey, somebody's got to wave goodbye to the bus).
This really will be my last Alpocalypse show, I'm afraid, but it was a really good one. Happy time.
I do kind of wish I knew what became of the orchid plant I thrust into the tour manager's hands after Del Mar and whether it ever made its way from tour manager to Al to Suzanne (the designated recipient).
I also think that maybe I should apologize to the tour manager for impeding him botanically when he was in a huge hurry. Oh, well. I try to be a good fan but I don't always succeed.
