kind of an odd coincidence that he returns to the city where he taped his first WAY Live special on a tour that was made into his second live special
Life is a bowl of three-legged salamanders swimming around in an infinite ocean of strawberry jello...

Will be at this show. The San Francisco shows are a blast. Would love if Jim found some time to play a gig around this.

Not usually, I don't think; there are so many people at fairs that the security issues are very difficult.DrDecay wrote:Does Al do meet and greets at fairs?

Well, this was a really fun show last night.
Traffic was horrible yesterday. Couple traffic jams on the way to the concert, and got in a wreck finding the hotel after the concert. Anyway, made it to the fair around 5:30. Parked, and went in. Was lucky to find a seat that hadn't been taken yet in the center of the 8th row. Perfect view of all the lights, stage, and video screen. This was a nice little intimate tent, which kind of reminded me of Bonnaroo....except for the little and intimate parts.
The pre-show music consisted of 22 songs. Not going to list all of them, but a few of the songs featured were "Perfect Day" by Hoku, "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" by The Jayhawks, "20th Century Boy" by T. Rex, "Only Happy When It Rains" by Garbage, "Information" by Tim Edmunds, "Take Me With U" by Marshall Crenshaw, "Freeze Frame" by J. Geils Band, "Psycho" by Puddle of Mudd, "Heartbeat" by Annie, and "Learn To Fly" by Foo Fighters.
The setlist was the full show except for Wanna B Ur Lovr. Al was unable to get down in the audience because of the standing room section that the fair had setup at the front of the tent.
Al still did the bit at the end of Nirvana where he has Hawkeye drag him off the stage. They also did this at the San Diego County Fair. Talked to Al about this after the show. Doesn't seem that it's a permanent bit, and they're just going to use it for the fair shows, since it would look awkward for him to just get up after the song. Told Al that I enjoyed it, though.
Introductions for the drum solos at this show were 1."DRUM SOLO!" being shouted immediately. 2."This is a pretty special night. Our own keyboard player is a proud graduate of San Rafael High. In honor of that, we'll play a DRUM SOLO REPRISE!"
Coffee shop was Starbucks on 4th Street.
For Saga Beings, there were three stormtroopers due to the size of the stage. A regular white one, one with a backpack and a Vader.
After the concert, there was a meet n' greet for around the 10 of us that waited. There were also fireworks at 9:30, so that was fun, too.
