Re: Gallery1988 Exhibition
Will I need a special ticket or invitation to attend the reception, or is it open to the public?
If the latter, I'll be there!

There's really just no information about it, so I'm assuming it's open to the public since the time and address are listed.

It would be really cruel to announce a Weird Al live appearance that was closed to the public, and then not tell the public. I'm pretty sure it's open.

One of my old floor mates from the dorms posted that link on my facebook page. Some great talent is on display there, but I think that goes without saying.

Yeah, definitely underpriced. I can't wait to see what else they have at this exhibition and if it's just the Al prints that are on sale or the entire collection. The one in tribute to Larry David is pretty amazing as well.

Re: Gallery1988 Exhibition
I went, had a lovely time, bought 2 prints (UHF and AORTB), chatted briefly with Suzanne and brieflier with Al, didn't get a photo because I forgot my real camera, couldn't get my phone cam to work, and the young man who promised to take a picture of me & Al met Al right before me and then wandered off in an Al-induced haze, completely forgetting the promise! It's ok, plenty of other cool photos are already surfacing on Twitter. Al was having a good hair day and as always was gracious & funny & unhurried with the fans. The only thing the event wasn't very conducive to was actually viewing the art as it deserved to be viewed... good stuff there! Al & Suzanne both said they intended to go back sometime to see it better without the crowd. The exhibition's up until March 31.

Re: Gallery1988 Exhibition
This was a very cool event, and the artwork was impressive and covered a wide variety of comedians. Al's stuff was certainly the centerpiece, and not all of the Weird Al related pieces in the gallery are the ones available online. There were at least two others that I saw. The good news is, Al told me they were going to try to get as many of the pieces as possible into the coffee table book. Helen's right, it wasn't the best time to see at least half of the artwork because it was being obscured by the line to meet Al. I hope to go back sometime later this month.
I had a nice chat with Al about visiting Cal Poly and the famous My Bologna bathroom, and then later he asked me a question about one of JNN's sources.

Re: Gallery1988 Exhibition
Had a great time last night! While there was a bit of a wait to get in, it was okay because the weather was pretty warm! When we got inside we got to chat with Tony and stood in line to see Al
A lot of really cool artwork in this show and I'm glad I was able to go!
