Revising my plans. While I recently found that I'll have a History test on the 30th, I decided that I'll either be taking the test early or do every extra credit opportunity I have to make sure that my grade won't take a hit if I miss it... Yep, I'll be working very hard to make my way to this one.

I'll probably be bringing my brother along. This will be my 9th Al concert and his 5th. See you all there!

... hopefully...

Back home... here's what I can recap at this moment from the concert:

We (as in me, my brother, MissyMoo and MagicSalad) found the venue early around 5 PM and the hall was just starting to prepare. The merch stand was about ready with lots of cool junk and we could hear Al and the band rehearsing from inside the auditorium. "Party In The CIA" was easily audible. Moving along, I bought a tour shirt with the new dates on the back and some magnets, while my brother bought the orange "Weird Al Experience" shirt. We then proceeded to lunch before the show. Upon getting back to the venue, more people showed up and lines began forming at all the doors. We instantly got in line behind what seemed to be a couple dozen people. After a while, a lady from the venue came out and told everyone that they could use the other venue entrance to line up for and so we walked in the other direction... until the fire alarm went off. They told everyone to leave the building and stand outside by the street. Kind of at a loss for words, we did so and a short couple minutes later were instructed to walk across the street. Just as we started, someone from inside told everyone they could come back in... so we did. We got back in the other line to the auditorium and waited. Long story short, I was in the restroom when a second alarm went off... but it turned out to be false. Still not sure what it was about, to be honest.

The auditorium doors were opened shortly after that and we found our seats. I waved to the other half of our group as they found their way up to the front row and have officially been called Mr. Chicken (I'll explain later). The show started a little later than we anticipated, but the show seemed to begin without a hitch. The new LED screen is awesome and crazy bright. I could tell all this simply from the first few seconds of the opening video. Al used the "official" music video for "Polka Face!" instead of the original videos. Al and the band played "Frank's 2000" TV." The background screen visuals seriously look amazing with the new screen, even if it is little bit more bright than I'm used to. Before TMZ, Al told us he knew what we all wanted to hear, and then announced the show staple drum solo.

As the video clips for "Smells Like Nirvana" started, I could tell this would be a pretty drastic change. Al started showing "Face to Face" clips! I was very surprised to note that some interviews that haven't even been released were shown! It was cool to see so many new things, but after seeing the Simpsons and Naked Gun clips moved around, it felt a little awkward. Also, there's pretty much no AL-TV interviews in the clips now. Lots of fun clips got pushed out, but we got the How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, etc. stuff in its place.

I really enjoyed CNR and Al's added yells. Very energetic performance. Al then said "Okay all fooling aside..." and gave us a drum solo reprise, followed by Canadian Idiot. Wanna B Ur Lovr was really cool, and being in an aisle seat, made it a lot easier to see Al as he paraded through the audience. The medley was great as usual, and is still my favorite part of the Alpocalypse set (Other than You Make Me).

Still, one of the most memorable things was when Al ad-libbed "Craigslist," talking about the snotty barista from the world famous Albuquerque Holiday Inn. He also said she disrupted him during a game of "Words With Friends" with Alec Baldwin. It was amazing, and his tone and execution of the spoken word portion was HILARIOUS.

The Jeopardy clip still introduces "White & Nerdy," though the clips surrounding "Perform This Way" are completely different. "Fat" was a blast as always and the encore was "The Saga Begins" and "Yoda" as usual... sort of. As Al asked the audience to sing along, he went to the back of the stage and took off his accordion, before coming back up to the mic to do the chant. As he did, he went through all the motions as usual sans-accordion. After it ended Al and the band just stood there for a good few seconds before launching into the music of "Albuquerque." Al yelled out, going into the ending monologue from the song, referencing the warm root beer air and whatnot, before having us sing along to end the night.

We didn't get one of those crazy extended encores, but we did have an amazing time. I had a blast staying with MissyMoo, MagicSalad and their family. It was a great weekend and I was very glad to spend time there with such awesome friends.

Oh yeah, I did this whole concert experience MissyMoo-style with my own chicken hat of sorts. Weird Al Prom indeed.
