Weird Al on "How I Met Your Mother"

Post by weirdstef »

Just finished watching "How I met your mother" and at the end of the show it goes back to Weird Al during the 80's
Spoiler:
reading a fan letter from Ted and getting the idea for "Like a Surgeon" from him.
It was hilarious. Did anyone else get to see the show? :whoot:

For those who will watch this later:

Al's cameo is at the end of the show (The tag before the credits), but he starts figuring into the episode about 5-10 minutes before the end.
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

Don't fret, I'm uploading the clip to YouTube as I type this.

And, in case you were wondering just how accurate the episode was, it states that Al received the letter that sparks his inspiration for "Like A Surgeon" on February 21st, 1985 -- which, according to weirdal.com, is the same day he recorded it.

I did not find this episode particularly funny although Al's part was cute enough.

It's kind of surreal to see new Al dressing up as old Al. There was just something so...weird about that. It almost looked like an actor at first. I kind of wish he'd at least made a present-day cameo (well, a 2011 cameo since this show takes place in 2030) but any show that devotes almost its entire second half to Weird Al is pretty sweet.

Almost as cool as the actual cameo was the fact that the writers referenced "I Think I'm a Clone Now." Kudos for picking out an obscure song like that.
