So, I went to this show. Amazing time. As I was walking to the theater, Al's tour manager saw me on the street and said, "We were wondering when you were going to show up on the tour, Jeremy!" I told him now that they were East of the Mississippi, I had to start coming. He said it was great to see me back out. Such a nice guy.
Got a new tour shirt with the Fall dates. Picked up the 2 new free trading cards, and purchased a $3 pack with 10. The deck of 10 had 3 of the new cards in it, which is pretty good I guess, out of the 122 that there are. So, I have 5 of the new cards.
There was new pre-show music before the show. It consisted of around 3/4 new songs, mixed with a couple songs from the old pre-show music.
We got Frank's 2000" TV. The coffee shop in Craigslist was Serda's on Royal. It's actually Serda's Coffee Company, but I'm thinking that's too long of a name to really put in the part. Also, right before Saga Begins in Cell Phone's place, they played Sweet Home Alabama.
After the show, it was definitely one of the quickest meets that I've seen with Al. I'm guessing there were basically no backstage pass people, except for the few stormtroopers that there were. Met Al, Steve and Jim. Had lengthy conversations with Steve and Jim. All three said that it was great to see me again. Such a fun, fun night.

Sweet Home Alabama? That better be the new semi-permanent cellphones, because that's something I want to see live!

Somehow I think your "Sweet Home Alabama" chances are better if you're at a show in Alabama.Interrobang wrote:Sweet Home Alabama? That better be the new semi-permanent cellphones, because that's something I want to see live!

Yeah, I'm sure that's the only reason that they played it the past two nights...also did it in Montogomery. I'm figuring that they just played it because they had previous experience of doing it during that request portion of the Poodle Hat Tour. As opposed to like doing Rocky Top in TN, or something.

Hi, great to be back after a years-long hiatus! The Mobile show was the third Al concert for me, my first two being on the Poodle Hat tour (Gulfport, MS and New Orleans). I think this show topped even those two! On the "Sweet Home Alabama" cover, they only played the first verse and chorus before segueing into "The Saga Begins," but it was perfect just how they did it. In fact, on the chorus, for the second "Sweet Home Alabama," Al substituted "Mobile Alabama," and the crowd went nuts!
It was a 90-mile drive for me, and although I knew Mobile a bit, I didn't know how to get to the Saenger Theater; Mapquest learned the way so I didn't have to. But after being unavoidably delayed and with rainy weather, I was really worried I'd be late for the show. Because it's not just finding the Saenger, it's also finding a parking spot, picking up the will-call ticket and then entering the concert hall, and I was running on short, short time. Thankfully, even after making a wrong turn in downtown Mobile, I "accidentally" found the Saenger. And practically right across the street was a very recently-vacated parallel parking spot. After parking, picking up my ticket at the will-call booth and being shown to my seat (an aisle seat!), I sat down. And less than thirty seconds later "Fun Zone" started up, signalling the start of the show.
Folks, you can't make this stuff up....
A great show, a great night, and a great memory....many thanks to Al and the band for a terrific show in Mobile!
