I would think that he would only do a night or two of a special show like that, it is more of specialty show.

Three is a magic number. He could do one on the west coast, one on the east coast, and one somewhere in the middle.

Why doesn't he do an acoustic and/or stripped down tour of comedy clubs? Possibly do those kinds of club shows I'm suggesting during one of the regular tours?

Re: Weird Al shows: changes I'd like to see someday
What's on my wish list? Well, among other things, I would love to see a REAL drum solo -- I think it would whip the crowd into a frenzy, both casual AND die-hard fans!!! I understand why they do the lack-of-a-solo gag, but I think a rhythmically complex solo could also be funny in any number of ways... there could be a sight gag involved, funny sound effect, some sort of comic timing... like, picture Bermuda playing a kick-ass drum solo and the crowd is cheering him on and then all of a sudden one of the other guys gets jealous and rudely cuts him off and starts showing off with their own solo... and suddenly everyone in the band starts competing against each other for solo time, blatantly showing off to the crowd (or just trying to out-do one another), and I don't know how the whole thing comes to an end, but already I'm laughing and enjoying the thought of it. I'm absolutely DYING to see those guys strut their stuff!!! They're obviously all skilled musicians, and, like I said before, if the concern is that a real solo isn't "funny" enough for an Al concert, I definitely think it can be, depending on the context, what's going on visually, musically, etc. Or if the concern is that they'd upstage Al too much, I can't even imagine that... everyone knows that Al is the star, and besides, none of them are doing the same thing Al does (like singing lead, playing accordion, etc.)
Anyway, that's something on my wish-list that hasn't been mentioned in the thread yet... I have been wanting to say that for months!!!

Yeah that is a great idea! Would love to see that myself, they'd only need like 3 to 4 minutes to do it.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

It's a great idea, and could easily be fit into one of the intervals when Al has to change clothes but the band doesn't.

Re: Weird Al shows: changes I'd like to see someday
I've been saying this for a while, Al has been playing more or less the same show with a few song changes, since the Poodle Hat Tour in '99. It's pretty much the same format, the same video clips, a lot of the same songs, the same jokes, etc.
The problem is that Al has stated before that he doesn't care a whole lot for his earlier material, which is why we don't hear much of it. Now what he constitutes as "early material" I don't know, but given that we rarely hear anything older than Off the Deep End these days, I would say it's that.
While in a perfect world, Al would change up his show more frequently, play more obscure tracks, and more fan favorites, he seems to be satisfied with his show as it is, and isn't much interested in making any radical changes to the format. It'd be great to go to a show and randomly hear I Love Rocky Road or Midnight Star again, but it's probably not going to happen.

All thats pretty obvious, lol. Poodle Hat Tour wasn't in '99, you must have meant Touring With Scissors.
