We have a PS3, but it coming with a blu-ray player was a bonus, not a selling point. We don't have an HDTV and it'll be a while before we get one, so buying blu-ray discs is pointless for us. We're a couple of young people who can't afford to jump on the "buy the latest technology as soon as it's released" bandwagon.

Quick FYI... even with a non-HD TV a blu disc will still play.
...our neighbors septic tank was the closest thing we had..
