Re: Who Would Be The New Al If He/she Wanted To?
I've met Al six times, once as his personal guest. You could not meet a nicer, more humble, more reasonable person. He would never denigrate another artist personally on Twitter or anywhere else in a public way. I think we have established that RuckaRuckaAli and Al are doing quite different things and are not in direct competition in any way.
Lets move on.

Re: Who Would Be The New Al If He/she Wanted To?
Al started releasing parodies in the late 70s without YouTube, Twitter, MySpace, etc. Heck, he couldn't even get his albums on iTunes like musicians do now. However, he gained an underground fan base through grass roots songs and the Dr. Demento Show. He worked his way up and eventually signed onto an INDEPENDENT RECORD LABEL in 1983. This label continued to help Al into the late 90s, when he was signed by Jive. Calling him a sellout is very humorous; how can anyone who is famous for accordions and parodies possible sell out? All-in-all... Al has gotten what he deserved, a dedicated fan base, money, and album sales, all through hard work and dedication.wphax wrote:I didn't plan on signing up until I saw the comment above this one. I find it funny how you would even think Nucka would want to be the next Weird Al. First of all, if you want an intelligent debate about the subject you're not going to get it out of me, you're just going to get the 'intelligent' part because I don't have time to sit here all day and defend something so stupid and little. Nucka Nucka Ali IS better than Al because his following came NOT by media coverage of his "new album" and NOT by paying thousands of dollars to some organization to market his stuff and put a marketing strategy on a persons life. Weird Al being on a major label proves that he is a sellout and was only in it for the money. Sometimes doing things not just for money, but for fun and entertainment and GETTING SOME IMPORTANT MESSAGES OUT THERE, is much more rewarding than being told how to act and what to do in public because of the marketing image they have placed around [artist with major label].
You. Can't. Aruge. OBJECTIVITY on this when it is clearly SUBJECTIVE! Sigh...And as far as the "Nucka's too offensive" crap goes, how is he too offensive? You have people on the news that kill their own kid and get away with it yet you can't hear the words AIDS or Smurf without crying to your parents. Get over yourself, this is the 21st century, and the more time you spend letting things offend you, the less fun you're going to have in your life.
Yes... becuase the hilariously topical "Ching Chang Chong" is, more or less, the same stuff you'll see on the news... Oh wait... No it isn't. It's humor. Arguing that Nucka Nucka Ali's music is better because it's more topical and controversial is, to put it bluntly, silly. Nucka and Al are on different wavelengths, so starting a flame war is quite possibly the most childish way to prove a point. We can disagree, but our community does have a problem with statements like "Wierd Ale sucks... LOL... We're better 'cuz *Curse Word*"Weird Al is family friendly, and Nucka is not, which is why they should not even be debated on in a forum like this. They are on 2 different levels of music making. Weird Al makes fun of things nobody cares about while Nucka brings up current events that ARE controversial yet at the same time, people should see/hear this stuff.

I'll be honest I overlooked that detail about when his career started, I heard his songs as a child which is most likely why I see Ruckas music as 'better' to me, Al just seems a bit childish to me I guess. But like I said I'm not going to debate. It all depends on the person and that's pretty much the end of the debate right there.

I think it's funny how obvious you can tell who's a Weird Al fan and who's a Nucka fan just by their language and dialect. When you see terrible spelling, poor grammar, and pointless swearing and spamming it's a Nucka fan.
I'm my personal opinion there are just two different types of people, those who enjoy Weird Al, and those who enjoy Nucka (just as there are rednecks, and normal citizens, or people who eat out of a garbage can, and people who eat normal food from a grocery store.) It could just be a separation of intelligence or social class.
Or it could be nothing.

I disagree, not ALL Nucka Nucka Ali fans have terrible spelling, poor grammar and do pointless swearing and spamming, take me for example, I don't have that bad of grammar and not that bad at spelling either, i may not like Weird Al but don't jump the gun. Sure maybe around most the fans are that but not all of them. i strongly suggest you re-consider what you say about Nucka Nucka Ali fans before people like me own your...Well, comment lolQuab wrote:When you see terrible spelling, poor grammar, and pointless swearing and spamming it's a Nucka fan.

I was about to apologize for stereotyping...THEN...
Weird Al's fan said "u can tell a post is by a Nucka cause of terrible grammar & spelling" At least my fans give Al some props, u smug smurf.
Anyhoo-It's true that most of Nucka's fans seem like decent respectable people, but his attacking Weird Al for donating to charity is just....weak. It's his general public image, and lack of talent I disrespect. I do give "props" for him TRYING to make the parody a more popular thing on youtube...but that's it.

Oh yeah, because you can clearly tell by his parodies, hes such a serious person, I was really thinking he was actually going to pull his album... You know I never dissed Weird Al, I never said He was a bad musician, I will actually give props to Weird Al, and since I listen to what people have to say he's good with his actual fans and I cant do what that dude does, but I think Nucka deserves a little respect for his parodies as well.

JNN: Nucka Nucka Ali has released a statement:
I don't want to be the next Weird Al. Just like Eminem doesn't want to be the next Vanilla Ice. It's apples & oranges.
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.

Maybe a little off topic, but I must tip my hat to JNN, they provide the news I need, when I need it.
