Chuck Klosterman interviews Weird Al podcast

If you aren't familiar with Chuck Klosterman, he is one of the greatest pop culture writers/reporters/interviewers/journalists of our time. Chuck wrote for SPIN Magazine for a while and is now a contributing editor to Esquire, New York Times Magazine, Washington Post, and The Believer. He has also written several incredible books: Fargo Rock City; Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs; Killing Yourself To Live; Eating The Dinosaur... The list goes on.

Chuck has interviewed Al for ESPN of all places and the 33-minute podcast is linked above. He asks rather insightful questions and while there may not be much news broken here this is definitely one of the more interesting Weird Al interviews I've listened to in a while. Highly recommended. A lot of great topics covered and questions that are not typically asked.

Yes this guy actually did GOOD well thought out reseach and didnt just ask stupid questions that he made up. I like when the interviewer talk to Al like a person and not throw goofy questions like he is a weird guy in everyday life. I notice a lot of people did that in earlier interviews i have seen on youtube-

Yeah, CrazyGirl had already linked to that, but it was a very fun, interesting interview. Guy definitely seemed like a fan who had done his research. Good promotion to be out on ESPN, too.

Just listened-nice interview indeed. It's definitely nice to hear someone who actually did his homework first. Rich boy has 4 houses, huh??

I deleted my link that i posted in the interviews topic. I was actually suprised that he gave a straight answer to the house question. Usually he makes a joke with a question like that

I thought it was funny that Al referred to that one as "the John McCain question," haha...

And yeah, Chuck Klosterman is the greatest. If you're unfamiliar with his work, try looking up some of his essays online. Or get one of his many excellent books. I think Al took this interview somewhat more seriously than others because he knows Klosterman "gets it" more than the average interviewer, much like he did on William Shatner's show.

Good interview. It was interesting to hear Al touch upon Michael Richards's and Victoria Jackson's recent scandals, which I don't think he's done before.

Whoa. That was a really good interview. One of the most well researched and thought out ones I've ever heard.
