Well... I guess it's cool that he can use it now, and we get that rocking video, as promised.

But I can't help but feel that we've all been robbed of the hype and expectation for the final few weeks before the album is released, to see what the lead single would've been.

So if Perform This Way is indeed the lead single for his new album, this will be a huge conundrum for any die-hard Weird Al fans who also happen to hate gay people. If they buy his new album, download the single off iTunes, or - even worse - go to a bunch of his live shows this year, they will be stuffing the pockets of the Human Rights Campaign.

Good thing most of us are strongly in support of this charity, right??

Yeah, this is gonna be thrown away for what it is now. There is no way Al is gonna do the video and make this his single. Especially because it doesnt say Lady Gaga would still let him do it. She said (her friend) she never denied permission, but she could still turn around and say he spread an untrue story so he's out of luck.

And Jon, though I agree, that might get you a smack from a mod

Ok, now that the whole who-said-what's are all sorted out ( :P ) I just listened to the song. I'm not familiar with the original, but I really like the parody! I think it has (had?) potential to be a hit. It might not be his "best ever" but it's catchy, timely, and fun. :) Good lead parody material.

In my mind, the video I'm picturing would be compliment the song nicely, and I'm no where as creative as Al, so hopefully he still can do one, and if so, get it out super quickly while the buzz is still hot. If he can get the video out in the next day or three that would be best. I know that's ambitious, but the world moves fast, so if he wants to capitalize, he's gotta move faster. It sounds like he already has the concept for the video, so I guess it just depends how quickly he can throw a video shoot together and all that.

Seriously? I can't even discuss the merits of a charity that Al is quite explicitly endorsing??

Well, there were serious mistakes on both sides. Al should have waited until Lady Gaga was back so he could ask her in person, and Lady Gaga should have hired less sucky agents. This has become the exact opposite of Amish Paradise, and now the album has taken its worst hit imaginable. None of this would have happened if there was just clearer freaking communication.
How old was that last signature? I mean, really?

No chance of this. Even if Al has the entire concept ready to go, down to detailed storyboards, it would take at least a few days to shoot, and then at least a week or so to edit. And if he did turn it around that quickly, say two weeks from now, it would be a truly remarkable turnaround. FAR faster than White & Nerdy or essentially any pop music video that has been out in the last few years.
