Wow, Gaga really came across as a jerk the way she handled everything. As Al pointed out, why did she make him record it, only if she was just going to reject it in the first place? Oh, well. At least we have a new song to hold us over until the album comes out.

If this story has legs and the crap hits the fan, maybe this will shame Gaga into letting him do it. Of course, by then he probably will have released the free download, so it would be moot as far as being the new album single.
Wonder if Gaga was just smurfing with him the whole time. Maybe she's a sociopath and thought it would be amusing to watch Al jump through hoops going through the time and expense of actually producing a song only to be told "Lady Gaga says no". At least Prince just flat-out said no from the get-go.
