2/13/11 - Van Nuys CostCo

Post by TMBJon »

I am now considering going to this instead of the one at The Grove. Is anyone else thinking of going to Van Nuys?

Cool. I guess I'll have the whole place to myself.

I'll be going to this! Just booked the flight. This signing actually occurs on the day of my birthday.

I thought about this one but I'm not a CostCo member and I wasn't sure if that was required. Also, I was planning to be at an event at a park that's 15 min. away from the Grove anyway.

If Costco membership was required, you'd think they would post that on WeirdAl.com, wouldn't they? They did for the Mission Viejo Lake concert way back when.

I called CostCo about that very question and they were obnoxious about it over the phone. The guy said something like "Well, yes that would make sense that you'd have to be a member to buy something, now wouldn't it?"
I wanted to get into a whole conversation with him about how, actually, it does not make any sense that you'd have to be a member of an elite wholesale grocery store in order to buy a book, but instead I decided to spend that time finding a friend with a CostCo card. I'll borrow his card the day of the event and get in that way.

The Mission Viejo concert was never announced on Weirdal.com only because it was a private event. It was later added to the "Poodle Hat Tour" archive page, but only after the fact.

And I think it's easier to get a Costco membership than it is to become a resident of Mission Viejo Lake.
